Resumo
O debate intelectual dos anos 70 encontra-se permeado pelo questionamento sobre o Regime Autoritário e pela possibilidade da abertura democrática do cenário político brasileiro. Essa discussão ganha ênfase com a geração de intelectuais que, aposentados compulsoriamente em abril de 1969, funda um centro de estudos autônomo à Universidade: o CEBRAP (Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Planejamento). O novo Centro, cuja fonte de financiamento provirá da Fundação Ford, surge como alternativa ao prosseguimento das atividades intelectuais dos acadêmicos da USP cassados durante a Ditadura Militar. Nesse período, o CEBRAP adquire grande influência tornando-se a garantia de legitimidade das Ciências Sociais e a prova de que a ciência não poderia ignorar a política. Ao romper com o pensamento social dos anos cinqüenta e sessenta, os pesquisadores do CEBRAP lançarão a discussão sobre novos temas mais próximos à realidade político social brasileiro, enfatizando o fortalecimento da sociedade civil e a democratização necessária. Nesse sentido, ao elegermos o CEBRAP como nosso objeto de estudo, nos propomos pesquisar a trajetória institucional deste Centro e as idéias que a partir dele começam a vigorar sobre a interpretação do Brasil.
The intellectual debate during the decade of 1970 is permeated by controverts about the Authoritarian Regime and by the possibility of a Democratic Opening of brazilian political scenery. That discussion gets emphasis with the generation of intellectuals - that were compulsorily retired on April, 1969 - that establish an autonomous center of studies in respect to University: o CEBRAP (Brazilian Center of Analysis and Planning). The new Center, whose fount of financing would come from the Ford Foundation, arises as an alternative for the continuation of intellectual activities of USP’s academicians that were abrogated during the Military Dictatorship. During this time, CEBRAP obtains a large influence, becoming the guarantee of legitimacy of Social Sciences and the proof that science could not ignore policy. When they broke up with the social thinking of the decades of 1950 and 1960, Cebrap's researchers introduced the discussion about new themes that were closer to the brazilian political and social reality, emphasizing civil society's strengthening and the necessary democratization. Therein, when we elected CEBRAP as our object of study, we aimed to research the institutional trajectory of that Center and its ideas about Brazil's interpretation.
