Resumo

Studies concerning the social insects gain more space in the scientific scenario and evidence the economic and ecological importance of these animals. Among the Aculeata, bees and wasps are groups that arouse considerable interest due to the form of social organization and because the potential of their venoms. Bees Apis mellifera represent insects of considerable economic importance both for bee products supplied, as for pollinating many species, being in this way, crucial to the balance of ecosystems. The wasps are known by the forms of organization of the colonies and by the relations established between these individuals. A common aspect present in both bees and wasps is the presence of a sting apparatus, fundamental for the defense of these insects, where the venom plays an important role in many aspects, such as pharmacological, immunological, medical and environmental. Therefore, understanding the constituents present in this secretion is essential for the understanding of their mechanisms of allergenicity. To comprehend the cellular organization of the structure responsible for the production of this substance used in the mechanisms of defense and attack of the aculeate and understand the composition of these venoms, as well as their mechanisms of action, are extremely essential for the advancement of science and the development of future works in this area. Based on the aforementioned, it emphasizes the importance in establishing the defining characteristics of the venom gland of bees and wasps, in order to characterize and distinguish them, complementing the existing information about this structure and about the convoluted gland - the structure inside the reservoir of wasps. From the results obtained in this study, it was concluded that despite some changes, the venom glands of bees Apis mellifera and wasps Polistes versicolor, Agelaia palipes palipes and Polybia paulista are very similar on its cellular organization, being that...
