Resumo
A exposição pré-natal ao álcool pode levar a prejuízos estruturais e/ou funcionais no feto, em que a severidade está relacionada à quantidade ingerida, período e duração da exposição. Trata-se de uma realidade que atinge muitas famílias, não apenas no Brasil, mais em outros países, cujas consequências se apresentam como um grande desafio para a escola. Este estudo teve por objetivo investigar comportamentos de alunos com a exposição pré-natal ao álcool em relação às atividades escolares por meio de entrevistas com os responsáveis e professores e da observação e sugerir contribuições para o processo educacional dos alunos. Os participantes foram cinco alunos do ensino fundamental de duas escolas da rede pública de ensino diagnosticados com FASD (Transtorno do espectro alcoólico fetal) com idades entre 8 e 9 anos, cinco familiares e cinco professores. A coleta de dados foi realizada nas escolas dos alunos participantes da pesquisa em três etapas: entrevista com informações dos responsáveis sobre desenvolvimento pré e pós-natal e comportamentos relacionados à escola; observação do comportamento dos escolares nas atividades em sala de aula, sendo no total oito sessões de 30 minutos, divididas em quatro antes do recreio e quatro depois do recreio; entrevista com os professores utilizando um protocolo de avaliação funcional para alunos com exposição prénatal ao álcool. The prenatal exposure to alcohol can lead to structural and/or functional damages in the fetus, and severity is related to the amount ingested, time and duration of exposure. It is a reality that affects many families, not only in Brazil but also in other countries, whose consequences are presented as a great challenge to school. This study aimed to investigate behaviors of students with prenatal exposure to alcohol in relation to school activities through interviews with parents and teachers and observation, and to suggest contributions to the educational process of students. Participants were five elementary students from two schools of the public school system diagnosed with FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) aged between 8 and 9 years old, five family members and five teachers. Data collection was conducted in the schools of the survey-participating students in three stages: an interview with information of parents or responsible people on the pre- and postnatal development and school-related behaviors; observation of the students’ behavior during classroom activities, totaling eight sessions of 30 minutes each, divided into four before break and four after break; interviews with the teachers using a functional assessment protocol for students with prenatal exposure to alcohol. The results showed common pieces of information in interviews with family members, teachers and in the observations, such as the students’ learning difficulty, attention problems in school assignments, behaviors of not following instructions and need of help to better academic performance. In the report of parents or responsible people it is stood out: the favorable attitude of the student in relation to school, a detailed description of the behavior during tasks, interpersonal relationships and leisure activities.
