    The cosmopolitan nature of Orpheus
(Univ Coimbra, 2016-01-01) Pires, Antonio Donizeti [UNESP]; Cornelli, G.; Fialho, M. D.; Leao, D.; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
In mythological and literary terms, four are the mythemes that underlie the narrative of Orpheus: a) his participation in the trip of the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece; b) his marriage with the nymph Eurydice, who is soon swept away by death; c) his katabasis to Hades, where he went to try to get the beloved among the dead: he is successful, but his disobedience to the infernal gods causes him to lose Eurydice definitely; d) his violent death, quartered by the jealous Maenads of Thrace. In this plot, Orpheus stands out as bringer of the lyre and civilizing hero, and his power of seduction enchants animals, stones, plants, men and gods. The four mythemes also point, in outline, to a configuration in terms of literary genres, because the first is clearly epic and the three remaining explore lyric and dramatic aspects of the mythic cycle. Anyway, Orpheus as priest would be the founder of the mystery cults named Orphism, which enjoyed great reputation during the cosmopolitan Hellenistic period. Therefore, given the fact that the myth of Orpheus made its way also through philosophy and the arts, the intention of this paper is to trace and ground in it some migrations of Orpheus through Greek and Latin culture.

ASPECTS OF THE FORMATION OF BRAZILIAN LITERATURE UNDER THE PERSPECTIVE OF ISAAC GOLDBERG: an ANALYSIS OF BRAZILIAN LITERATURE
(Fundacao Univ Tocantins, 2022-01-01) Pereira, Marcio Roberto [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
Published in September 1922, Isaac Goldberg's work, entitled Brazilian Literature, represents an important milestone in the dissemination and systematization of Brazilian literature from the point of view of an American writer. Divided into two parts, entitled An outline history of Brazilian Literature and Representative personalities, the critic's work offers an overview that highlights the main moments in the history of Brazilian literature and selects the most representative writers. Written in English, Goldberg's work is influenced by the stories of Brazilian Literature by Silvio Romero, published in 1888, by Jose Verissimo (1916) and Ronald de Carvalho (1920). The objective of this work, therefore, is to analyze the linkage of Isaac Goldberg's critical method in relation to the methods used by Brazilian intellectuals to make up the first three histories of Brazilian Literature.

Solidão de náufrago: A poética de Claudia Roquette-Pinto nos jardins de Corola
(2011-12-01) Borsato, Fabiane Renata [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
The work Corola, by Claudia Roquette-Pinto (2000), introduces a consistent poetic project arising from the use of expressive metalinguistic resources and of its cohesive structure. Resorting to intratextuality promotes the unity and the metalinguistic reflections of the book's 48 poems. The dialog with the literary tradition is simultaneous with the awareness of the enunciators that the poetry of Corola is intervallic and fissile. The initial 47 untitled poems build a strong relationship of continuity and revealing interdependence of a presence of a theory of the poetic creation based on misfortunes. The lyricism in Corola does not present marks of self-pity related to the castaway situation announced in the last poem of the work. The adjectives exhausted, torn, discredited ascribed to the poetic self, make it unfold into another, critical appreciator of their own poetic noises and a conscious hostage of an intermittent and lacunar time which favors the construction of a poetics of a patient wait for the rescue of the poetry and of the development into a reader-spectator of himself or herself and of the poetic text. We will analyze some metalinguistic procedures and compositional concerns announced by Corolas poetic selves, as well as the recurrent figure of the garden as a poetic space.

Solving stress clashes in the music of the Cantigas de Santa Maria
(Univ Fed Rio De Janeiro, Fac Letras, 2021-05-01) Massini-Cagliari, Gladis [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
This work aims to investigate how the stress clashes, or the sequences of two or more stressed syllables, can be solved, in terms of prominence relationship (strong/weak), considering the first ten Cantigas de Santa Maria, attributed to Alfonso X (1221-1284). The objective is to search for clues in the music that can reveal which of the syllables in sequence had prominence, in the established rhythmic relationship. It is an analysis in the Phonology field, which aims to examine the possible contributions of observing the musical structure of the cantigas which accompany the verses, written in the Portuguese ancient medieval ancestral language, to determinate the linguistic prosody of that specific period of the language. Observing the length and the prominence of the notes relating to the syllables involved in the stress clash, the analysis shows that the apparent stress clashes in the lyrics of the cantigas were resolved in their musical performance.

THE UTOPIAN BIOGRAFIA OF INVENCAO DE ORFEU, BY JORGE DE LIMA
(Centro Ensino Superior Juiz De Fora, 2020-08-01) Cavalcanti, Luciano Dias [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
In this article, we intend analyze the presence of utopia the Eighth Canto, Biografia, the largest Canto of Invericao de Orfeu, composed of only one resort (in decassyllable sextles) that synthetically resumes both the imagery and the theme of the previous songs. The Canto represents a poetic reflection on the situation of man from the fall to the Apocalypse and his final victory. In it, onirism, childhood and the image of the island receive a structuring character in the poem. The biography is not only that of the poet, it encompasses a broad sense of poetic tradition, childhood as creation and the desire to meet a renewed utopia, representations that can be considered the core of every poem by Jorge de Lima.

Autarchics Cemeteries in Joao Cabral de Melo Neto's Poems
(Univ Fed Minas Gerais, Fac Letras, 2020-04-01) Borsato, Fabiane Renata [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
Joao Cabral de Melo Neto thematized death in many of his poems, besides the very well-known one Death and life of Severino. It is notorious the presence of poems about the individual death of artists and bullfighters; the collective death strongly connected to the individual's exploitation on the landowning society on Brazilian northeast; the conceptual death, metapoetical based, is found on the A indesejada das gentes section, in the book Agrestes. Within the context of many poems that thematize death, it is found the ones that present the cemetery image as a significant space in order to comprehend the speeches concerning the recurrent northeastern neediness. This paper intends to understand the way in which the Brazilian northeast cemiterial image is problematized and the poetical strategies employed to exhibit the cemetery and its foundation sustained on an intense social inequality. For this purpose, it is proposed to study a poetical composition mechanism based on the discussion of images, as Joao Cabral named himself and Benedito Nunes understood as a prismatic texture of composition. According to this procedure, Joao Cabral's compositive act would involve the selection and the unfolding of an image on several other forms and images, objecting an addition of perspectives, more clarity, significant concretion and depth of the language. It is hoped, after the study of the northeast cemeteries image, to base the hypothesis in which Cabral, retaking themes and images, presents a denunciative poetical project regarding the strengthening forms of the draught industry on the Brazilian northeast.

Two Faces of Love in A Paixao Medida, by Carlos Drummond de Andrade
(Univ Fed Minas Gerais, Fac Letras, 2019-07-01) Borsato, Fabiane Renata [UNESP]; Tavela, Lysllaynne Pryscylla [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp); ILCML
This paper analyzes two poems from the work A Paixao Medida (1980) aiming to comprehend the two faces of love underlying Carlos Drummond de Andrade's poetics, being the first one the marketable love in the poem A festa do mangue, and the second one being the epiphanic love, presented in the poem Nascer de novo. In order to do it, the modes of instauration of the voices in the poems will be described and analyzed they are grounded either in the first person's objectivity or in its intense subjectivity; the gradations and rhythmic regularity; the relation between the identity and the epiphany; love as a friendly conception of things and alterity; the relation between locus adversus and locus amoenus; the presence of Drummond's irony; the empathetic gaze of the poetic persona towards the existence conditions on the mangrove; the spatial mobility of the mangrove's clients as a counterpoint of the prostitutes' isolation and maintenance of the social and economic exclusion. The subjects of both of these poems, facing the economic, political and social adversities, seek alternatives of existence and surviving in a disarranged world. It is aimed to highlight that the transitory love of the mangrove and the love-poetry-epiphany are two of Drummond's forms of love amid the tough mythology of the modern cities.

LINGUISTIC EVALUATION, ATTITUDES, BELIEFS AND PORTUGUESE TEACHING: A REFLECTION BASED ON TESTS WITH HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS
(Unesp-faculdade Ciencias & Letras, 2020-01-01) Ghessi, Rafaela Regina [UNESP]; Berlinck, Rosane de Andrade [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
Evaluation, attitudes and linguistic beliefs led to subjective judgments of the speaker about his own language and that of his interlocutor. Such judgments can influence linguistic variation or the course of linguistic change, and are usually anchored in the ideology of a standard language. In the school environment, the teacher stands out as one of the main agents of what is transmitted and/or reinforced in the teaching-learning process. Due to its role in the process of building beliefs and attitudes, we proposed in this study to investigate the linguistic attitudes of teachers from two public schools in Monte Azul Paulista-SP, regarding the variable phenomenon of verbal agreement. The main objective is to discuss about the valorization or rejection to the linguistic varieties in use and about the teaching of Portuguese in Brazil. This work was based on the theoretical and methodological approach of Variationist Sociolinguistics. (WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006; LABOV,2008).

THE SOCIAL TOURBILLON: THE REPRESENTATION OF THE MODERN CITY IN ALLEN GINSBERG'S AND ROBERTO PIVA'S POETRY
(Univ Federal Santa Maria, 2019-09-01) Lochini, Patricia [UNESP]; Andrade, Paulo [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
The quantitative disorder which characterizes the modernity, personified by the urban environment, touch the subjectivity of man who are inserted in it, and, consequently, their relationships, which suffer with the alienation of sentiments. The romantic thought of the XIX century, as a criticism to bourgeois reality, expose the empty existential of the subject that feels misfit to modern life. And, in the XX century, that spirit still illuminate the mind of the poets which keep in the search for ways to put on opposition to dehumanization of man. This way, this article have as objective reflect, by comparative analysis, how the poetry of the second half of XX century stages the sentiment of revolt, romantic par excellence, against the city as an environment of alienation, from the modernists of 50's, represented by the American beatnik poet Allen Ginsberg, to understand the modernists of 60's, represented by the Brazilian poet Roberto Piva.

Virginity as dissidence? Reflexions on O Marido Virgem, by Alfredo Gallis
(Univ Estadual Paulista-unesp, 2019-01-01) Valentim, Jorge Vicente [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
Little acknowledged by literary criticism, Alfredo Gallis (1859-1910) was a prolific writer in the period between the 19th and 20th centuries, having published more than a dozen texts with an expressive readership both in Portugal and in Brazil. This essay intends to develop some reflections on the novel O marido virgem (1900), with a reading that emphasizes an avant-garde treatment of themes related to sexuality and gender, in a context where Naturalistic aesthetics, monarchical thinking and conservatism still remained in the most different areas of knowledge and behavior. To do so, I take as a starting point his approaches on virginity and its different performances in his fiction, and how they can be understood as forms of expression of dissidence in the scenario of the 19th and 20th centuries.

GAY SUBJECTIVITY IN ANTONIO BOTTO'S POETRY
(Univ Sao Paulo, Fac Filosofia Letras & Ciencias Humanas, 2018-06-01) Outeiro Fernandes, Maria Lucia [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
By seeking to understand Antonio Botto's absence in the canon of Portuguese lyric poetry of the 20th Century, this paper proposes some reflections on the aesthetic aspects of his work. In addition to this objective, we also intend to discuss the bond created between Aestheticism and Decadentism in his dramatic poetry - which causes tension with humanism or literary vitalism - in order to better express gay subjectivity and form a queer identity.

Vozes no conto de Machado de Assis sobre um incêndio em Montevidéu
(2015-01-01) Marchezan, Luiz Gonzaga [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)
In his dialogical reflection on utterance, Voloshinov emphasizes that its implied component is the one that is common to a social group and does not need thus to be explicit. In that manner, the author observes that when adding, juxtaposing memory situations in reported time and space, it is possible for the enunciator to coordinate perceptions concerning existence in fiction and to relate them to intonations that increasingly narrow the interlocution between things lived and utterances. In view of that, we analyze the short story Um incêndio [A Fire] by Machado de Assis based on a dialogical perspective. This short story was motivated by the news of a fire that had occurred in a port area of Montevideo. The news was told by the engineer Abel Ferreira de Matos, who, in turn, had heard it from the boy Manuel Bandeira.
