Linguística, ativismo, política e ideologia na vida e na obra de Noam Chomsky

Resumo
Além de revolucionar a área da Linguística, Noam Chomsky também é um proeminente autor
de escritos políticos. Levando-se em consideração seus dados biográficos, nota-se que foi
mantido um profundo engajamento político orientado à esquerda durante toda sua vida,
contudo, é a partir da década de 60, que seu ativismo se intensifica e são publicados textos que
podem ser considerados marcos iniciais de sua obra política. A temática de um de seus trabalhos
mais clássicos, O poder americano e os novos mandarins, envereda por caminhos que dizem
respeito às áreas de Ciências Sociais e de Relações Internacionais, e embora a produção que se
seguiu tenha continuado a explorar análises de política internacional, o autor permanece
marginalizado nos campos. De um lado, há esforços de estudiosos para garantir-lhe um espaço
nessas áreas, de outro, acadêmicos criticam seus escritos e posições. A presente dissertação
pretende, a partir de uma síntese bibliográfica, fazer uma breve apresentação da teoria
linguística de Chomsky, na qual discuta pontos de discordância com os behavioristas, ademais
se propõe a introduzir as bases estruturais da gramática gerativa e observar seu funcionamento
em enunciados de português e sua importância na aprendizagem de algumas habilidades
curriculares da disciplina Língua Portuguesa do estado de São Paulo. Além disso, pretende
avaliar o aproveitamento de alguns aspectos dos escritos políticos e da atuação ativista de
Chomsky para as áreas de Ciências Sociais e de Relações Internacionais, procurando situar o
autor diante das perspectivas de tais áreas. Os resultados da pesquisa foram satisfatórios. Atual
e polêmica são as discussões que o autor suscitou no campo da Linguística, e a evolução dos
estudos gerativistas no Brasil demonstrou a aplicabilidade da teoria da sintaxe no português.
Não menos importantes são os debates envolvendo Ciências Sociais e Relações Internacionais,
campos para os quais o autor traz questionamentos relevantes e contemporâneos.
Besides revolutionizing the Linguistics area, Noam Chomsky is also a distinguished author of political writings. Taken into account his biographical data, one notices that a deep engagement oriented to the Left has been kept during all his life. Howewer, his activism has intensified since the 60’s, and texts that can be considered initial milestones of his political work were then published . The thematic of one of his more classical works, American power and the new mandarins, takes a path that involves areas of Social Sciences and International Relations, and although the production that follows had been kept to explore international policy analyses, the author remains marginalized in the fields. On one hand, there are efforts of scholars to ensure him a space in these areas, from another side, academics criticize his writings and positions. The present dissertation intends, from a bibliographical synthesis, make a brief presentation of the Chomsky’s linguistics theory, in which discusses points of disagreement with the behaviourists. Morover, it proposes an introduction to the structural basis of the generative grammar and observe the functioning in portuguese structures and the importance of learning some curricular abilities of the Portuguese Language discipline of São Paulo state. Furthermore, it intends to evaluate the usage of some aspects of Chomsky’s political writings and his activistic actuation to the areas of Social Sciences and of International Relations, pursuing to situate the author in face of the perspectives of these areas. The results of the research were satisfactory. Current and polemic are the discussions that the author provoked in the Linguistics field, and the evolution of the generative studies on Brazil has shown the applicability of the sintaxis theory in portuguese. No less important are the debates involving Social Sciences and Internacional Relations, fields for which the author brings relevant and contemporary questions.
