ItemArtigo O absurdo beckettiano em Waiting for Godot e Endgame(2010) Santos, Mateus de Oliveira [UNESP]; Harris, Peter James [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemArtigo O AMBIENTE DIGITAL TRADCORPUS: PROPOSTA DE REPOSITÓRIO DE DADOS DE CORPORA ON-LINE PARA O ENSINO DE LÍNGUAS ESTRANGEIRAS E DE TRADUÇÃO(UNICAMP. Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística Aplicada do Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem (IEL), 2023-05-01) Serpa, Talita [UNESP]; Pinto, Paula Tavares [UNESP]; Sbrogio, Renata De Oliveira; Camargo, Diva Cardoso De [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP); União das Faculdades dos Grandes LagosThis article presents a preliminary online repository called TRADCorpus - Translation and Online Corpora for Training Professional Competences, which aims at providing open multilingual, parallel and comparable corpora as resource for teaching and learning translation and language skills in multiple language pairs such as Portuguese ↔ English ↔ Spanish ↔ French ↔ Italian ↔ German. The theories used for building this collection mainly follow the concepts of Data-Driven Learning as well as Corpus-Based Translation Pedagogy which promote a process of effective use of corpora for performing teaching and translation tasks. This database, as well as a list of online computational tools, will be available to language teachers, translators and students who will be able to access a set of files and activities produced by different users and they will be able to share their own work as well. Most of the corpora and lists of words, keywords and collocates are the results of the research developed by the groups Translation, Terminology and Corpora and En-Corpora: Corpus-Based and Corpus-Driven Teaching (CNPq).ItemArtigo Ambigüidade gerada pela homonímia: revisitação teórica, linhas limítrofes com a polissemia e proposta de critérios distintivos(Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), 2003-01-01) Zavaglia, Claudia [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)O presente trabalho almeja expor o fenômeno da homonímia no português do Brasil, enquanto ambigüidade presente em uma língua natural, por meio de uma revisitação teórica em diversos autores e em confronto com a polissemia. ItemArtigo Análise da obra do compositor Cazuza através da utilização da linguística de corpus(2011) Gava, Águida Aparecida [UNESP]; Bechara, Eli Nazareth [UNESP]; Camargo, Diva Cardoso de [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemArtigo Análise das colocações especializadas da área de sensoriamento remoto sob a perspectiva da fraseologia(2013) Orenha-Ottaiano, Adriane [UNESP]; Hasmann, Dalila dos Santos [UNESP]; Camargo, Diva Cardoso de [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)The aim of this research is to build and analyze a parallel corpus in the field of remote sensing in order to identify, according to its frequency, specialized collocations in English and then search for their equivalents in Portuguese. The research is based on the interdisciplinary approach of Corpus-Based Translation Studies (BAKER, 1995; CAMARGO, 2007), Corpus Linguistics (BERBER SARDINHA, 2004; TOGNINI-BONELLI, 2001), Phraseology (ORENHA-OTTAIANO, 2009; PAVEL, 1993), and some principles of Terminology (BARROS, 2004). For manipulating the corpora, the program WordSmith Tools (SCOTT, 2012) version 6.0 is used. To support this study, two comparable corpora in English and Portuguese were also built from articles published in both national and international journals in remote sensing. The results show that the collocations in Portuguese seem to be still in the process of conventionalization, as the translators made use of greater variation in their translational options, which can be a way to make the text clearer for the reader. (QUALIS A2)(2014) Lodi, Ariane [UNESP]; Amadeu-Sabino, Marilei [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)This study aims to investigate the Idioms (IEs) or combinations related to the Italian lexical units testa and capo, in comparison to the Portuguese lexical unit cabeça. Since they have come from two completely different etyma, they are not perfect synonyms; on the contrary, they gave rise to several expressions that are common to just one lexical units. Corpus selection was made in monolingual Italian general dictionaries and then the data was classified according to each typology: idioms that are common only with the unit capo; idioms just with head; idioms that are synonyms with both; IEs whose translations refer to other parts of the body. As a result, we found that most of the IEs with capo or testa have common semes, but most of them also are specific to one or other lexical unit exclusively, confirming the difference in semantic features between them as well as non-univocity between languages.ItemArtigo Análise de marcadores culturais no par de obras Relato de um certo oriente e The tree of the seventh heaven(2010) Frisene, Patricia Dias Reis [UNESP]; Camargo, Diva Cardoso de [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)This paper presents some results of a study on culturally marked terms in a corpus composed by the Brazilian novel Relato de um certo oriente (1989), by Milton Hatoum, and its translation into English The tree of the seventh heaven, by Ellen Watson. For the analysis of culturally marked terms, we followed the interdisciplinary approach proposed by Camargo (2005, 2007) involving corpus-based translation studies (BAKER, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000), and the investigations of cultural domains (NIDA, 1945; AUBERT, 1981, 2006). The methodology adopted in the present research required the software WordSmith Tools (SCOTT, 2007), which provides the necessary resources for the collection of data in a corpus of translated texts. The software tool called WordList was used for the selection of the most frequent words in the texts and also for the identification of the culturally marked terms. For the analysis of the culturally marked terms in both texts we used the software tool Concord. The results revealed that most of the culturally marked terms are inserted in the ecological domain, and the other terms are distributed in the domains of material, social and ideological culture, which reflects the theme of the book. ItemArtigo Antropologia da Civilização: um estudo da tradução para o inglês de termos simples, expressões fixas e semifixas recorrentes em duas obras de Darcy Ribeiro(2012) Serpa, Talita [UNESP]; Camargo, Diva Cardoso de [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)The main purpose of this article is to investigate the most frequent simple terms as well as fixed and semi-fixed expressions in Social Anthropology of Civilization subarea in Portuguese and their corresponding terms in English, found in two works written by the anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro. The methodology used is that of Corpus-Based Translation Studies (BAKER, 1995, 1996, 1997; CAMARGO, 2005, 2007), Corpus Linguistics (BERBER SARDINHA, 2004) and Terminology (BARROS, 2004; KRIEGER &FINATTO, 2004). Results show that there are similarities and differences among the use of the terms in the main subcorpora composed of source and target texts and in the comparable corpora in Portuguese and in English. This data indicate that terms and expressions are not univocal in the anthropological language due to the differences in the conceptualization of the same referents by different specialists in the area.ItemArtigo Anzaldua and Gomez-Pena: Two Different Expressions of Subjectivities Within the Transient Borders of Postmodernism(Univ Estadual Paulista, Fundacao Editora Unesp, 2016-07-01) Fernandes, Gisele Manganelli [UNESP]; Terezinha Malvezzi, Maria Jose [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)This is a discussion of The New World Border (1996), by Guillermo Gomez-Petia, and Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza (1999), by Gloria Anzaldua, whose aim is to emphasize the different Chicano subjectivities shown in the two texts. The study proposes an interaction between performance and literary language, in order to highlight the power of voices silenced in the past and now conveyors of ideas with the plurality of postmodern art. Gomez-Pena's and Anzaldua's discourses open perspectives to the production of new artistic forms written in verse and prose, in English and in Spanish. These challenging narratives reveal the rupture of not only physical borders but also that of literary genres. This work addresses the importance of the literature produced by Chicanos to American cultural life.ItemArtigo Aplicaciones potenciales del contexto teletandem para el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras(2010) Benedetti, Ana Mariza [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemArtigo Aspectos etimológicos e históricos no processo de criação terminológica do domínio da Zootecnia: termos que designam cruzamentos sintéticos bovinos brasileiros(2011) Franco, Leila; Barros, Lidia Almeida [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemArtigo Assessing oral proficiency in computer-assisted foreign language learning: A study in the context of teletandem interactions(2015-01-01) Consolo, Douglas Altamiro [UNESP]; Furtoso, Viviane Bagio; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp); Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL)An innovative aspect in the area of language assessment has been to evaluate oral language proficiency in distant interactions by means of computers. The data were collected in the scope of the Teletandem Brazil project by means of interviews, audio and video recordings of online interactions, questionnaires and field notes. The results offer contributions for the areas of assessment, teacher education and teaching Portuguese for foreigners.ItemArtigo Assia Djebar: dire le(s) lieu(x) de l entre - les - langues en français(2011) Deangeli, Maria Angelica [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemArtigo Blaise Cendrars e o Brasil: "Brésil, des hommes sont venus"(2013) Wimmer, Norma [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)The paper intitled Blaise Cendrars and Brazil: Brésil, des hommes sont venus discusses the way Cendrars portrays Brazil, and also debates his influence on the artists of the Semana de Arte Moderna (Modern Art Week) in 1922.ItemArtigo Brands of violence: crime and the ugly in Brazilian abolitionist poetry(Univ Estadual Paulista, Fundacao Editora Unesp, 2017-01-01) Simpson, Pablo [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)This presentation aims to investigate some images of horror in Brazilian abolitionist poetry. There is in Castro Alves, in poems like Lucia or Tragedia no lar, the representation of slavery suffering from the dimension of ugliness: in the blood dew, in the unburied corpse, in the bed of agonies. It is also in Fagundes Varela, in the filthy rags, in the uncured wounds of the poem The slave. This investigation will seek these images from the eventual transit of Christian representations, as in Castro Alves's The Mother of the Captive: O Mother! Do not awaken the sleeping soul, / With the sublime verb of the Martyr of the Cross!ItemArtigo Breve análise discursiva em três dicionários de fraseologia(2012) Matias, Gislaine Rodrigues [UNESP]; Silva, Maria Cristina Parreira da [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)In the current context of Metalexicography several types of studies have been conducted in order to better understand the organization of existing dictionaries and, thus, constitute a knowledge base that would support the development of new works. Regarding specifically the dictionaries of Phraseology, although there are many researchers who engage in this domain, there is still much to study in order to optimize and boost production as much monolingual as bilingual works. The aim of this paper is to present a brief discursive analysis of three phraseological dictionaries considering the pedagogical aspect.
