An international group of scientists and clinicians meets biennially at the International Patellofemoral Research Retreat to share research findings related to patellofemoral pain conditions and develop consensus statements using best practice methods. This consensus statement, from the 5th International Patellofemoral Research Retreat held in Australia in July 2017, focuses on exercise therapy and physical interventions (eg, orthoses, taping and manual therapy) for patellofemoral pain. Literature searches were conducted to identify new systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published since the 2016 Consensus Statement. The methodological quality of included systematic reviews and RCTs was graded using AMSTAR and PEDro, respectively. Evidence-based statements were developed from included papers and presented to a panel of 41 patellofemoral pain experts for consensus discussion and voting. Recommendations from the expert panel support the use of exercise therapy (especially the combination of hip-focused and knee-focused exercises), combined interventions and foot orthoses to improve pain and/or function in people with patellofemoral pain. The use of patellofemoral, knee or lumbar mobilisations in isolation, or electrophysical agents, is not recommended. There is uncertainty regarding the use of patellar taping/bracing, acupuncture/dry needling, manual soft tissue techniques, blood flow restriction training and gait retraining in patients with patellofemoral pain. In 2017, we launched the International Patellofemoral Research Network (www.ipfrn.org) to consolidate and grow our patellofemoral research community, facilitate collaboration and disseminate patellofemoral pain knowledge to clinicians and the general public. The 6th International Patellofemoral Research Retreat will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, in October 2019.ItemResenha 4 '-Aminochalcones As Novel Inhibitors of the Chlorinating Activity of Myeloperoxidase(Bentham Science Publ Ltd, 2012-11-01) Zeraik, M. L. [UNESP]; Ximenes, V. F. [UNESP]; Regasini, L. O. [UNESP]; Dutra, L. A. [UNESP]; Silva, Dulce Helena Siqueira [UNESP]; Fonseca, L. M. [UNESP]; Coelho, D.; Machado, S. A. S.; Bolzani, Vanderlan da Silva [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp); Universidade de São Paulo (USP)The excessive activation of neutrophils generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the secretion of primary granular enzymes, such as myeloperoxidase (MPO), which is implicated in numerous inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate chalcones as inhibitors of the chlorinating activity of MPO using in vitro and ex vivo assays. In addition to cytotoxic properties, the inhibition of respiratory burst, the scavenger capacity, and the oxidation potential were measured. 4'-Aminochalcone (1), 4'-amino-4-fluorochalcone (2), and 4'-amino-4-methylchalcone (3) exhibited potent inhibition of the chlorinating activity of MPO, as evaluated in a neutrophil system and a free cell system, to the following degree: (1) IC50 = 0.265 +/- 0.036 mu ol L-1; (2) IC50 = 0.250 +/- 0.081 mu ol L-1; and (3) IC50 = 0.250 +/- 0.012 mu ol L-1. These values were similar to those for 5-fluorotryptamine (IC50 = 0.192 +/- 0.012 mu ol L-1), a compound considered to be a potent MPO inhibitor. These aminochalcones were not toxic to neutrophils at concentrations below 100 mu ol L-1, as determined by the trypan blue exclusion assay. Compounds 1-3 presented a high oxidation potential (E-pa1 approximate to 0.80 V), low scavenger capacity against DPPH center dot and HOCl, and low inhibition of respiratory burst. These data indicated that aminochalcones are potent inhibitors of MPO chlorinating activity, a new property for chalcone derivatives, given that they are neither antioxidant agents nor inhibitors of respiratory burst. In conclusion, the selected aminochalcones have potential as pharmacological agents for inflammatory diseases.ItemResenha 5-year Effects of Potassium Fertilization Levels on Nutrition Balance and Yield in the Maize/Soybean Succession(2022-01-01) Bossolani, João William [UNESP]; Meneghette, Hugo Henrique Andrade [UNESP]; Sanches, Izabela Rodrigues [UNESP]; Dos Santos, Fabiana Lopes [UNESP]; Parra, Lucas Fenelon [UNESP]; Lazarini, Edson [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)Potassium (K)-based fertilizers are highly demanded in crop systems, as they are one of the elements most required by plants. Due to the high rates of K-fertilizers applied consecutively in agriculture and the doubts generated as to their permanence in soil and possible negative effects in a subsequent crop, there is a need for long-term studies that evaluate the residual effect of applications of these fertilizers on nutritional status and yield crops that make up the crop system. This study aimed to verify the effect of K-fertilizer doses applied in topdressing in maize on crop nutrition and yield, as well as soybean in succession. Nine doses of K2O (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 120 and 150 kg ha−1) were applied to maize. The nutritional status and yield components were evaluated. Our results reveal the beneficial effect of applications, between 70 and 80 kg K2O ha−1 on maize nutrition and yield, as well as on soybean in succession. Consecutive K2O application in doses over 90 kg ha−1, strongly reduce the levels of leaf Ca and Mg in maize and soybean leaves and their respective grain yields.ItemResenha 50 anos da Faculdade de Odontologia de São José dos Campos-UNESP 1960-2010(Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), 2012) Rodrigues, José Roberto [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemResenha 50 years later- Literary studies in contemporary Brazil(Univ Estadual Paulista-unesp, Fac Ciencias Letras Assis, 2015-01-01) Silva Santos, Fabiano Rodrigo da [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)ItemResenha A regulação das solenidades religiosas nas terras portuguesas (sécs. XIV-XV)(2014-01-01) Teodoro, Leandro Alves [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)Between the fourteenth to fifteenth centuries, archbishops and bishops reported numerous cases of believers who transgressed the acceptable limits during religious ceremonies organized in around of the churches, especially in the days of processions and the night vigils. To fight against the lawlessness of Portuguese faithful in public space, these religious elaborated a complex list of sermons concerning conduct that the Christian should take in popular festivities. Taking into account the moralizing effort of the synods, we will analyze the means used to regulate parties in this period.ItemResenha Abnormal Activity of Masticatory Muscles in Patients with Diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies(2023-01-01) Beltramin, Rafael Zaratin; Martimbianco, Ana Luiza Cabrera; Gonçalves, Marcela Leticia Leal; Rocha, Monise Mendes; Silva, Soraia Micaela; Horliana, Anna Carolina Ratto Tempestini; Santos, Elaine Marcílio; Turcio, Karina Helga [UNESP]; Mesquita-Ferrari, Raquel Agnelli; Fernandes, Kristianne Porta Santos; Motta, Lara Jansiski; Bussadori, Sandra Kalil; Universidade Nove de Julho (UNINOVE); Universidade Metropolitana de Santos (UNIMES); Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)Aims: to map and synthesize the results from studies that assessed whether individuals diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP) have abnormal masseter and temporal muscles activation during the masticatory cycle. Methods: Six databases were searched for comparative observational studies assessing masticatory muscles activation in individuals with CP through electromyography analysis. Methodological quality was evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Critical Appraisal Checklist. Outcome data were combined in meta-analysis using the Review Manager software. Results: We included five cross-sectional studies with an overall low risk of bias. Meta-analyses showed no difference between CP and healthy individuals regarding maximum voluntary isometric contraction: right masseter (Standard mean difference [SMD] − 0.95; 95% CI −2.03 to 0.13); left masseter (SMD −0.92; 95% CI −1.93 to 0.09); right temporal (SMD −0.72; 95% CI −1.63 to 0.18); and left temporal (SMD −0.68; 95% CI −1.76 to 0.40). Electrical activity amplitude in the inactive period was superior in the CP group, and maximum bite pressure presented higher values in the control group (Mean difference [MD] − 17.38; CI 95% −26.62 to −10.15). Conclusions: Based on observational studies with a lower level of evidence, individuals with CP seem to present difficulties activating masticatory muscles. Future prospective cohort studies with rigorous methodology are still necessary to support these findings. [UNESP]; Gonzaga, Luana A. [UNESP]; Benjamim, Cicero Jonas R.; Valenti, Vitor E. [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP); Universidade de São Paulo (USP)Background: The repercussions on oxidative and inflammatory stress markers under the effects of arginine and citrulline in response to exercise are not fully reached. We completed a systematic review to investigate the effects of L-Citrulline or L-Arginine on oxidative stress and inflammatory biomarkers following exercise. EMBASE, MEDLINE (PubMed), Cochrane Library, CINAHL, LILACS, and Web of Science databases were used to record the trials. This study includes randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs with subjects over 18 years old. Those under the intervention protocol consumed L-Citrulline or L-Arginine, and the controls ingested placebo. We recognized 1080 studies, but only 7 were included (7 studies in meta-analysis). We observed no difference between pre- vs. post-exercise for oxidative stress (subtotal = −0.21 [CI: −0.56, 0.14], p = 0.24, and heterogeneity = 0%. In the sub-group “L-Arginine” we found a subtotal = −0.29 [−0.71, 0.12], p = 0.16, and heterogeneity = 0%. For the “L-Citrulline” subgroup we observed a subtotal = 0.00 [−0.67, 0.67], p = 1.00, and heterogeneity was not applicable. No differences were observed between groups (p = 0.47), and I² = 0%) or in antioxidant activity (subtotal = −0.28 [−1.65, 1.08], p = 0.68, and heterogeneity = 0%). In the “L-Arginine” sub-group, we found a subtotal = −3.90 [−14.18, 6.38], p = 0.46, and heterogeneity was not applicable. For the “L-Citrulline” subgroup, we reported a subtotal = −0.22 [−1.60, 1.16], p = 0.75, and heterogeneity was not applicable. No differences were observed between groups (p = 0.49), and I² = 0%), inflammatory markers (subtotal = 8.38 [−0.02, 16.78], p = 0.05, and heterogeneity = 93%. Tests for subgroup differences were not applicable, and anti-inflammatory markers (subtotal = −0.38 [−1.15, 0.39], p = 0.34 and heterogeneity = 15%; testing for subgroup differences was not applicable). In conclusion, our systematic review and meta-analysis found that L-Citrulline and L-Arginine did not influence inflammatory biomarkers and oxidative stress after exercise.ItemResenha Abutment on Titanium-Base Hybrid Implant: A Literature Review(2022-01-01) Moreno, André Luiz De Melo [UNESP]; Dos Santos, Daniela Micheline [UNESP]; Bertoz, André Pinheiro De Magalhães [UNESP]; Goiato, Marcelo Coelho [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)An increase in the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technologies challenges the conventional prosthetic fabrication procedures that are practical and centered on a digital workflow for the patient, especially for dental implants. Increasing workflow of digital restoration work, considering computer-used CAM for restoration technology systems and also fast/CAM for building restoration technology; fast/CAD, also known as abut-Base, has increased interest. Studies on adaptation of different restorative materials, on titanium (Ti)-base abutments, traction, and transformed cycling have become relevant. The objective of this work was to research, through literature studies, on restoration-type abutments. A total of 24 articles were found after searching the following terms in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Embase databases: ti-base AND abutment. Twenty-one manuscripts selected from the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After an analysis of these articles, it was concluded that the Ti-base abutment and components from the same manufacturer as the Implant should be used preferably; milled monolithic crowns designed to adapt to the Ti-base the hybrid abutment-crown assembly does not affect torque maintenance after thermal aging; the saliva and cleaning protocol of the Ti-base bonding surfaces can influence the operations of the Ti-base crowns; Ti-base and Crown surface treatment is recommended for better applicability and stability results, and the superiority of resin-based cements compared with other types of cements.ItemResenha Academic institutionalization of History: Between professionalization and self-education(2013-01-01) Machado, Daiane [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)ItemResenha Academic library contributions to internationalization: a systematic review(Univ Federal Minas Gerais, Escola Biblioteconomia, 2017-07-01) Sanchez-Tarrago, Nancy; Castellanos-Gallardo, Inalvis; Bufrem, Leilah Santiago [UNESP]; Univ La Habana; Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE); Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)The University internationalization processes are an adaptive response to a global context marked by globalization, which involves roughly greater political, economic and social interaction among countries and regions. In this context, it is valid to ask what is the role and contributions of the academic library in the internationalization of the campus, considering that historically, its main purpose has been to support the university in the development of its functions. To find answers, a systematic review and a bibliometric analysis of the literature published in Information Science between 2005 and 2015 were performed. A continued growth in published research, led by librarians from the United States, China and Canada, was found. They address different aspects of library work that support both transnational education and internationalization 'at home': supporting study-abroad students and programs, information literacy, collection development, studies on the influence of cultural and linguistic differences in communication and services, among others. Recommendations for library practice related to management strategies, services, infrastructure, training and research, were identified.ItemResenha Academic production in the field of combat sports: the case of judo and the studies of the principles and values of the sport(2022-01-01) de Jesus, Glauber Bedini; Impolcetto, Fernanda Moreto [UNESP]; Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia de Rondônia; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)Aim: The purpose of the study was to carry out a survey and analysis of the scientific production of judo, specifically the contents that discuss the principles and values of this sport, to understand the contexts of its production at the national and international levels. Methods: A state of the art literature review was used to analyze seven national journals of Physical Education and five specialized in the area of combat sports, from their first editions up until the year 2021. Results: The results indicated that judo production has grown mainly in the last decade. In both national and specialized journals, the analyzed productions (n = 69 and n = 410, respectively) were concentrated in biodynamics (57.97% and 72.93%), followed by the sociocultural (30.43% and 23.41%) and pedagogical areas (11.60% and 3.66%). Articles on principles and values accounted for only 8.35% of judo production, of which 47.50% were written entirely in English, 42.50% in Japanese with only abstracts in English, and a measly 10% in Portuguese, confirming the diffi-culty in finding information on the topic. This aridity may be the result of the technical-sports perspective that drives scientific research in the area of biodynamics and the language barriers of publications concentrated in English and Japanese. Conclusion: It is suggested that actions by the regulatory institutions be taken to encourage both research and greater access to the conceptual and attitudinal knowledge of judo, extrapolating the offer of bodily knowledge and approaching the democratic and integral educational process that is expected.ItemResenha O acaso, o poeta e a re-visão da ciência no límen do milênio(2010-07-01) Toneto, Diana Junkes Martha [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)The second part of the poem A Máquina do Mundo Repensada, from Haroldo de Campos (2000), is very inventive as it brings up, to the center of this text, composed in terza rima, the science as the poetic message protagonist. If at the first part of the poem there is a return to the tradition texts, at the second, although these dialogues remain, the impulse to the newness is guaranteed by the ingress of the scientific theme in the poem, which conducts the poetic person to new ways, to unknown places and makes more emphatic the possibility of establishment of the literary text as the scene of modern physics discoveries, but, at the same time the poetic word inquires these discoveries. At the second part of the haroldian poem, which analysis is presented here, the literary frontiers' challenge tangencies the science frontiers. All of this makes Haroldo a poet of the absolutely new.ItemResenha Access of the patient to the cancer network under the Sixty-Day Law: Integrative Review(Assoc Brasileira Enfermagem, 2020-01-01) Lombardo, Mariela Santos [UNESP]; Popim, Regina Celia [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp)Objectives: to analyze Brazilian scientific production on patient access to the oncology network under the Sixty-Day Law. Methods: integrative review of the literature in the databases Lilacs, PubMed and Scielo. The descriptors used were: neoplasms, health services accessibility, early detection of cancer. Articles published from 2015 to March 2019 were included. Results: 17 articles were analyzed and four themes emerged: inequality in access; qualification of Primary Care professionals; time as a determinant factor; information system as limiting factor. Conclusions: the access to the oncology network is unequal and there are several barriers faced by the users. A continuing education of health professionals is necessary to implement preventive strategies. Treatment initiation is late, showing noncompliance with the law. The health care network is highly fragmented, there is lack of coordination between the services and, consequently, there is a lack of patient follow-up.ItemResenha Achievements and Challenges of Classical Swine Fever Eradication in Brazil(2020-11-19) de Oliveira, Luís Guilherme [UNESP]; Gatto, Igor Renan Honorato; Mechler-Dreibi, Marina Lopes [UNESP]; Almeida, Henrique M S [UNESP]; Sonálio, Karina [UNESP]; Storino, Gabriel Yuri [UNESP]; Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp); Ourofino Animal Health Ltda. Rodovia Anhanguera SP 330Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) causes one of the most critical diseases in the porcine industry worldwide. In Brazil, the first description of the infection was reported in 1888, and the national recognition of the first free zone (FZ) occurred in 2001. Brazil has been recently recognized (2015-2016) by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) with an FZ involving 15 states and the Federal District, corresponding to 95% of the industrial production of pigs in the country, and a non-free zone (NFZ), comprised by the North and Northeast regions of the country, with approximately 18% of the national pig herd and 5% of industrial production. This review aims to describe the history, the control and eradication actions, the recent occurrence of outbreaks in the NFZ, and the results obtained by the surveillance systems' action in the FZ for CSF in Brazil since its creation. In the passive surveillance system, the notification of the suspect cases of classical swine fever (CSF) is mandatory while in the active surveillance system adopted in the FZ consists of serological monitoring of certified swine breeding farms (CSBFs), intensive pig farming (IPF), non-technified pig herds (NTPig), surveillance in slaughterhouses and monitoring the populations of wild pigs. In this region, the last outbreaks of the disease occurred in 1998, while in the NFZ, 28 outbreaks were detected from 2005 to 2017, with an apparent lethality rate of 93.96% (840/894). However, in 2018 and 2019, 68 new outbreaks were registered with an apparent lethality rate of 75.05% (1095/1459). Therefore, in 2019, the Brazil CSF-Free Strategic Plan was created to eradicate the infection from the country's NFZ, since outbreaks in this region present a risk of reintroducing the disease FZ. Finally, differences in characteristics between the regions show factors that still need to be considered for the construction of a robust surveillance system in the NFZ and some improvements in the FZ. Thus, the control of CSF throughout the Brazilian territory requires strict sanitary guidelines, promoting animal health and, consequently, the national production chain's competitiveness.
