Venezuela suspensa e as negociacoes Mercosul-Uniao Europeia: uma analise a partir dos antecedentes paraguaios

The article intends to understand Venezuela's position in the negotiations of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, in the context of its suspensions. The present article aims to analyse the Venezuelan status before the negotiations between Mercosur and the EU. Moreover, prospecting scenarios from the consummation of the agreement, the article has the purpose to figure out the Venezuelan situation before its signature. Having that said, firstly, reviews the history of negotiations between both blocs, which are previous to the incorporation of Caracas. Subsequently, the article makes a retrospective of the guidelines of the participation rights of the Caribbean country within the bloc. In addition, analyses the position in the negotiations between Mercosur and European Union and its stage until the 2016 and 2017 suspensions. Finally, the possibilities of applying to Venezuela what eventually will be decided in the suspension period are assessed.
