Resumo

The work now appreciated presents the analysis of the pop-up work The Little Mermaid (1837), by Hans Christian Andersen, adapted by Robert Sabuda (2013). The objective, through descriptive and qualitative analyzes of the narrative, is to ask whether text, image, and pop-up elements are used to highlight the aesthetic-literary enjoyment of the work or give voice to practical, didactic-moralizing production. The study is justified by observing the pertinence of the literature that is offered to children and adolescents, directly influencing the reading training of these individuals, presented in an editorial format that unexplored in academic studies and that fosters new reading protocols. Through theoretical contributions selected from the epistemological fields of literature, illustration, and theories on pop-up techniques mainly by Candido (2004), Azevedo (2001) and Smithsonian Institute (2011), respectively, we consider that the work promotes the relationship between codes verbal, imagery and even pop-up resources, showing a stylistic construction of the plot.
