A arte pública de Dale Chihuly : o uso do vidro na contemporaneidade

O presente trabalho realiza um estudo sobre a obra do artista plático norte-americano Dale Chihuly, procurando identificar, na sua proposta de instalar esculturas de vidro para interferir em ambientes naturais e urbanos, os fatores coletivos, grupais e comunitários requeridos no processo da Arte Pública. Na análise do processo criador do artista e da fase pública de sua obra, pode se comprovar a dinamização destes fatores nos três níveis de ocorrência do fenômeno artístico - concepção, produção e recepção da obra de arte. O processo público, desencadeado pelos seus projetos artísticos, dá-se, inicialmente, de forma indireta, com a leitura do ambiente comunitário pelo artista (concepção artística) para, depois, estabelecer relações mais diretas, através do processo de produção artística em grupo, até se efetivar com a instalação de obras, estabelecendo vínculos expressivos com o espaço coletivo e estimulando o público a recriar seus significados (recepção artística). Esta pesquisa selecionou as obras principais realizadas em ambientes públicos de grande visitação internaciona, como Jerusalém, Veneza e Londres.

This research is based on the study of the work of the North-American born artist Dale Chihuly, and it tries to identify inside his glass sculptures application proposals when it interfere in natural and urban environment, the collective, group and community elements related to the public art. During the analysis of his work we could realize the dynamization of the elements above mentioned inside the three levels of the development of the artistic phenomenon - conception, production and the reception of the work or the art. The public process formed by his artistic project, happened in indirect way first through the analysis of the environment of the community by the artist (artist conception) and only after establishing a direct relationship, through the artistic production in groups process, until the conclusion of the work of art, when it establishes significant links the collective space stimulating the public to recreate their own meanings. (artistic reception). This research has selected some of work of arts located in public places, such as Jerusalem, London and Venice.
