The authors studied the gonadal arteries with respect to their origin, relationships and variations in 62 cadavers of adult Brazilian people, 46 males and 16 females. They observed that the above cited arteries often show aortic origin and less often renal origin. If they are from aortic origin, the left gonadal artery usually emerges on a superior level in relationship to its homonymous. The renal origin of both or only one of them can occur from renal artery, properly said, from a segmental branch or from a polar artery. The variations of the relationship of gonadal arteries in respect to renal pedicle and the inferior vena cava were observed, as well as the presence of 10 cases of arched gonadal arteries and one case of double right gonadal artery.en
