Resumo
O propósito desta pesquisa foi avaliar a espessura do ligamento periodontal dos primeiros molares de ratos submetidos à movimentação dentária induzida. Utilizou-se 30 ratos Wistar (Rattus norvergicus, albinus), divididos em três grupos, GI, GII e GIII, compostos por 10 animais cada e submetidos à eutanásia, respectivamente, 7, 14 e 21 dias após o início do experimento. Nos três Grupos, os primeiros molares superiores direitos foram movimentados enquanto os primeiros molares superiores esquerdos foram utilizados como controle. Aplicou-se uma força contínua de 40cN por meio do aparelho idealizado por Heller e Nanda e modificada por Consolaro e Martins-Ortiz. Os cortes histológicos foram digitalizados e as dimensões do ligamento periodontal dos dentes movimentados e controlados foram aferidas em três regiões diferentes, apical, média e cervical, em ambas as raízes, mesiovestibular e distovestibular, utilizando a metodologia de King modificada. Os valores médios individuais dos grupos experimentais foram comparados com seu respectivo controle por meio do teste de Mann-Whitney. A comparação dos valores entre regiões em um mesmo período de tempo, e ainda, entre períodos de tempo diferentes em uma mesma região foi realizada por meio da Análise de Variância – ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis e subseqüente teste de Tukey. Os grupos GI e GII exibiram a dimensão do ligamento periodontal diminuída nas regiões apical da raiz mesiovestibular e cervical da raiz distovestibular e aumentada nas regiões cervical da raiz mesiovestibular, apical da raiz distovestibular e média de ambas as raízes. A diminuição e o aumento da dimensão do ligamento periodontal evidenciada em uma mesma raiz, mesiovestibular ou distovestibular, caracterizou o movimento dentário no sentido de inclinação. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the thickness of the periodontal ligament of the rat’s first molars submitted to the induced tooth movement. It was used 30 Wistar rats (Rattus norvergicus, albinus), divided in three groups, GI, GII and GIII, composed by 10 animals each and submitted to the euthanasia, respectively, 7, 14 and 21 days after the beginning of the experiment. In the three Groups, the first upper right molars were moved while the first left upper molars were used as control. A continuous force of 40cN was applied through the appliance idealized by Heller and Nanda and modified by Consolaro and Martins-Ortiz. The histological cuts were digitalized and the dimensions of the periodontal ligament of the moved teeth and controlled teeth were checked in three different areas, apical, medium and cervical, in both roots, mesiobuccal and distobuccal, using King’s methodology modified. The individual mean values of the experimental groups were compared with the respective control through the Mann- Whitney test. The comparison of the values among areas in a same period of time, and still, among different periods of time in a same area was accomplished through the Analysis of Variance – ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis and subsequent Tukey test. The groups GI and GII exhibited the dimension of the periodontal ligament decreased in the apical area of the mesiobuccal root and cervical of the distobuccal root and increased in the cervical area of the mesiobuccal root, apical of the distobuccal root and medium of both roots. The decrease and the increase of periodontal ligament’s thickness evidenced in a same root, mesiobuccal or distobuccal, characterized the tooth movement in the inclination sense.
