Protocolos de tratamento para mordida cruzada posterior em crianças: revisão da literatura

Abstract

The posterior crossbite can be defined as a transversal discrepancy between jaws, a common finding in children in both deciduous and mixed dentition, with prevalence ranging between 7% and 23%. Therefore, the aim of this work is to elaborate a review of the literature suggesting the appliances with more cientific basis in the correction of PXB. Considering that several articles are available, we intend to select the more relevant to the literature, in an effort to give to the clinical the more effective means for treatment of this condition

A mordida cruzada posterior (MCP) pode ser definida como uma discrepância transversal entre as bases apicais ósseas maxilares e mandibulares. Seus achados clínicos variam entre 7 e 23% das crianças na fase de dentição decídua e mista. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste trabalho é o de realizar uma revisão da literatura com o intuito de sugerir os aparelhos com maiores respaldos científicos no tratamento da MCP. Considerando que vários são os artigos encontrados acerca do assunto, pretendemos assim filtrar os mais citados e embasados, para sugerir ao cirurgião dentista os meios mais efetivos e recentes para o tratamento desta condição
