WHAT LEADS RETIRED TEACHERS TO RETURN TO TEACHING?
Abstract
This article aims to present the data from our research, concerning the reasons that led six teachers from the Presidente Prudente-SP and Presidente Bernardes-SP Education System to retire and return to teaching after retirement. The theoretical reference involved studies on the context of the public school and the dilemmas faced by teachers, lifecycles and teaching career and aspects of inactivity linked to retirement. The research was qualitative character and as instruments, we use semi-structured interviews. The results indicated that the reasons that influenced the teachers return, it'has relationship with the context of precariousness teaching profession, considering the low wages. The fear of losing the social and professional identity, becoming inactive, added to the feeling of yet have desire to carry out the work were also justifications denoted by teachers for the decision to return to teaching.
