WORKING WITH THEORY AND PRACTICE: VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS ON TEACHER CONTINUED EDUCATION
Abstract
This article is the result of a participatory research involving 47 students on a specialization course in Early Childhood Education offered by a federal university in Sao Paulo state. Four lessons were performed to work with visual and performing arts amounting 30 hours. The data were collected by participant observation and open answers questionnaries. The overall objective of this review was to combine theory and practical experiences along the discipline and thus be able to effectively form the teachers to conclude the discipline with minimum conditions to work in the classroom with the children. The analysis concluded that the target was reached. In addition the proposals be well evaluated by the students, they contributed to a better understanding of the teacher's performance in kindergarten, extended the look on working with arts in Early Childhood Education and has served not only professionally, but also in the personal development of the students. This research may lead to reflections about teacher education, expanding and enriching the discussion about the importance of create meaningful learning situations.
