Resumo

In this paper, we aim to problematize the concept of hypertext and its alleged 'nearness' with the philosophical concept of rhizome of Deleuze and Guattari. For that, we betake to the writings of those philosophers about rhizome and to a research experience in a course entitled Applied Mathematics, from a Biological Sciences undergraduate course. Hypertext and rhizome concepts put us in motion to questioning: is it possible to study Differential and Integral Calculus without prerequisites or hierarchical structure of content? This question guides the entire research movement that originated the text presented here. As results, we highlight: text or hypertext are equally 'close' to the concept of rhizome; also, to 'liberate' mathematics from a hierarchical structural axis favors the invention in the classroom.
