ABSTRACT It was with the proclamation of the republic that the teaching of philosophy began to suffer with periods marked by oscillations: sometimes its presence is guaranteed and other times it becomes indefinite, culminating in its total withdrawal with the military civil coup, thus harming the construction of its identity and its role as a school subject. In 2008, with law no. 11,684 authored by federal deputy Ribamar Alves (PSB-MA), Philosophy effectively and obligatorily returns (unprecedented fact since the colonial period) to compose the curriculum of High School. However, on February 16, 2017 Law no. 13,145was approved and sanctioned by the president Michel Temer, which proposes the restructuring of Secondary School. This law does is not clear regarding the way in which the teaching of philosophy should be structured: whether it will be offered as a specific discipline, as it has been happening; or if the it will be worked in other areas, from cross-cutting themes; or other ways. In addition, the law does not specify whether philosophy as a school subject will be offered in all the years of high school; thus, the risk of its exclusion from the curricula is imminent. Therefore, it is necessary and urgent to think of this moment, not only as a period marked by possible setbacks, but as an opportunity to reflect on some possibilities to update and improve the educational proposals aimed at teaching philosophy. Therefore, our objective in this research was to investigate the conception of philosophy teaching of philosophy teachers in High School, in order to understand what the purposes conceiving to their practice are, that is, why they teach philosophy: because of its utility or its meaning? For us, the answer to what the teaching of philosophy is in its potentiality to enable the experience of thought, so our thesis is that the teacher of philosophy must himself be willing to experience the thought, asking, questioning, and problematizing his profession. Our theoretical reference to go through the qualification concept is in the Frankfurt school, specifically in the texts by Theodor W. Adorno on Cultural Industry, Education, qualification and semiqualification. The discussions related to the philosophy itself, as well as learning and teaching philosophy were developed from the reflections of Dalton José Alves, Walter Omar Kohan, Jacques Rancière, Sílvio Gallo, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, Walter Benjamin, Jorge Larrosa, Paula Ramos de Oliveira, Tiago Brentam Perencini and Rodrigo Pelloso Gelamo. The empirical data were collected through interviews with teachers of philosophy from 1st to 3rd years of high school in the public schools of the city of Pirassununga/SP. Our conclusion is that the professors of philosophy interviewed believe in the potential of teaching philosophy as a contribution to the formation of critical, creative and autonomous subjects, thus, the hypothesis defended in this research, that is, that teachers do not feel confident about why they teach philosophy has not been confirmed.
