Resumo

This article aims to report my experience as a manager entering the public network of the State of Sao Paulo at a school of elementary and high school in the city of Presidente Prudente, from the year 2018 to the present moment. The objective was, based on the autobiographical narrative, to contribute to the investigations on the transition from being a teacher to being a manager in the process of building professional identity in the new career, the challenges and possibilities in the performance of incoming school principals. Narrative research was used as the research methodology, based on the approach of autobiographical studies and their contributions to research in education. The (in) conclusion in the final considerations is justified due to the narrative revealing a me in construction, it is a process of identity reconstruction. However, from the studies carried out so far, it is evident the need for greater investments and attention to those entering the career of a school manager, especially in the formative and receptive aspects.
