das Coisas (Internet of Things – IoT) e Redes Inteligentes (Smart Grids).
tecnologia IoT (Internet of Things) envolvida.
Since its invention, electrical energy has allowed great advances in the industry and has enabled the creation of an electrical grid capable of supplying all types of consumers. Nowadays, through its use, it is possible to perceive the constant evolution of the different types of technology, which has allowed the study, development and the application of themes such as Industry 4.0, 5G network, Internet of Things and Smart Grids. This paper addresses the topics of Internet of Things and Smart Grids in order to clarify the need for the implementation of this type of network instead of the conventional electrical grid. It focuses on demonstrating the connection between the two themes, exposing how Smart Grids are only possible with the development of the Internet of Things. It emphasizes the smart meters theme as one of the greatest differentials of Smart Grids, also demonstrating the IoT (Internet of Things) technology involved. It evidences the change in the consumer's vision by including it as a strategic part of the business. Finally, there is a financial study that clarifies the investment required for the implementation of the Smart Grid in the point of view of the energy provider and the final customer
