As palavras
A busca
rugosidade superficial e microdureza.
Composite resins are restorative materials widely used in dentistry, mainly due to their aesthetic characteristics when compared to other direct restorative materials. Additionally, bleaching treatments have become increasingly popular due to the possibility of improving aesthetics with minimal intervention and ease of treatment. As a result, composite resin restorations already present in the oral cavity of patients will often come into contact with different bleaching agents of different concentrations. The aim of this study was to review the literature on the effects of bleaching on composite resin restorations. This review selected 20 articles in the PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar databases between the years 2000 and 2022. The keywords used for the search were “Bleaching” and “Composite resins”. The search found 1,658 articles, of which 29 were pre-selected and after reading the abstract, only 20 were used. The dental literature presents a wide variety of studies on the effects of bleaching on composite resin restorations. The main focus of this review was to present the effects of at-home and in-office bleaching on the following properties of the composite resin: color stability, surface roughness and microhardness. It is concluded that tooth bleaching affects composite resin restorations and its prescription should be performed with caution.
