Pio Lourenço Corrêa (1875-1957): um mosaico biobibliográfico do polímata araraquarense

Resumo
Neste trabalho, apresentam-se os resultados da pesquisa de Doutorado, vinculada à linha “Filosofia e História da Educação” do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Estadual Paulista, câmpus de Marília/SP. Objetivando contribuir para a preservação da memória da educação; e de pessoas relevantes na área, o tema é Pio Lourenço Corrêa (1875-1957) e seu polimatismo (fazendeiro, naturalista, filólogo autodidata e bibliófilo de Araraquara/SP); o primeiro proprietário da Chácara da Sapucaia, que hoje pertence à UNESP – Universidade Estadual Paulista, câmpus de Araraquara/SP; que tem seu acervo documental reunido na Coleção Pio Lourenço Corrêa (1256 livros, 7232 imagens de fichas de estudo e publicações), abrigada na Biblioteca Pública Municipal Mário de Andrade de Araraquara/SP. Com abordagem histórica, a pesquisa documental e bibliográfica reuniu ainda 70 textos autorais e 66 referências de textos sobre ele, no intuito de responder às seguintes perguntas: quem foi Pio Lourenço Corrêa; quais os propósitos e necessidades de colecionar livros e fichas de estudo; por que o interesse em assuntos relacionados à linguagem; em que contextos históricos foram produzidos e circularam seus textos autorais; quem foram seus interlocutores; qual sua importância em relação ao passado e ao presente em sua cidade e neste Estado. Mediante essa análise, constatou-se que esses documentos caracterizam-se como registros históricos importantes para a compreensão da atuação desse polímata (fazendeiro/naturalista/bibliófilo/ filólogo autodidata) e dos aspectos culturais que abordou, diretamente relacionados aos contextos histórico, político, cultural, social e educacional do início do século XX. Como resultado da pesquisa, foi elaborado um mosaico biobibliográfico de Pio Lourenço Corrêa e realizada a catalogação de seus textos autorais e fichas de estudo, contribuindo para o enriquecimento da história da UNESP – Universidade Estadual Paulista, da história da cidade de Araraquara/SP, bem como da história da língua portuguesa e da literatura no estado de São Paulo.
In this work, we present the results of the Doctoral research, linked to the line “Philosophy and History of Education” of the Graduate Program in Education at Universidade Estadual Paulista, campus of Marília/SP. Aiming to contribute to the preservation of the memory of education; and from relevant people in the area, the theme is Pio Lourenço Corrêa (1875-1957) and his polymathism (farmer, naturalist, self-taught philologist, and bibliophile from Araraquara/SP); the first owner of Chácara da Sapucaia, which today belongs to UNESP – Universidade Estadual Paulista, Araraquara/SP campus; which has its documentary collection gathered in the Pio Lourenço Corrêa Collection (1256 books, 7232 study sheets and publications), housed in the Mário de Andrade Municipal Public Library in Araraquara/SP. With a historical approach, the documentary and bibliographic research also gathered 70 author texts and 66 references to texts about him, in order to answer the following questions: who was Pio Lourenço Corrêa; what are the purposes and needs of collecting books and study sheets; why the interest in language-related matters; in which historical contexts their author texts were produced and circulated; who were your interlocutors; what is its importance in relation to the past and the present in your city and in this state. Through this analysis, it was found that these documents are characterized as important historical records for understanding the role of this polymath (farmer/naturalist/bibliophile/self-taught philologist) and the cultural aspects he addressed, directly related to the historical, political, cultural contexts, social and educational aspects of the early 20th century. As a result of the research, a biobibliographic mosaic of Pio Lourenço Corrêa was prepared and his author texts and study sheets were cataloged, contributing to the enrichment of the history of UNESP – Universidade Estadual Paulista, the history of the city of Araraquara/SP, as well the history of the Portuguese language and literature in the state of São Paulo.
