as estruturas fálicas.
The Luzarinae subfamily corresponds to the largest taxon in the Neotropical region (Souza-Dias et al., 2015), comprising an important component of the litter fauna. In this subfamily, it’s important to emphasize Lernecina subtribe, raised by Desutter-Grandcolas (1987) as a litter-dwelling group of crickets belonging to her “Group C” of the Luzarine phalangopsids from South America (Desutter-Grandcolas, 1990). Here we describe a new genus and species of cricket belonging to the subtribe Lernecina from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, at presently known only from Ubaíra, State of Bahia, Brazil. The studied specimens were preserved in 80% alcohol, examined under a Zeiss Discovery V8 stereomicroscope and photographed under a Zeiss Discovery V20 stereomicroscope, using the terminological system proposed by Desutter Grandcolas for phallic structures. The new genus is so far the only one of this cluster to have males bearing a mostly whitish and hyaline dorsal field of fore wing (another genus with that condition is in the process of being described), bearing genitalia furnished with a peculiar sclerite C, which is highly compressed, blade shaped, not at all spiniform or hollow, devoid of spinules or granulations. The South American cricket taxonomic diversity is still in the discovery era. The present work, thus, is a contribution to the knowledge of the taxonomic diversity of this subtribe of phalangopsid crickets.
