Neste trabalho buscamos
At the beginning of 2020, we were surprised by the COVID-19 pandemic, which was responsible for changing the dynamics of society. This accentuated and exposed the socioeconomic vulnerabilities of a considerable part of the Brazilian population. In this work we seek to understand how the Covid-19 pandemic affected family farmers who sell their products at the Rural Producer Fair in the municipality of Rio Claro - SP. For that, the methodology developed used a bibliographic review and application of semi-structured forms together with the producers. The results obtained through the study reveal that as a result of the closing of the fair, due to the sanitary measures adopted by the public authorities of the cities, the Rural Producer Fair was emptied and the sales of family farming decreased. This situation made some producers change their activity or look for other jobs to increase the family income. Most of the family farmers at the fair are part of programs such as PNAE and PAA, which, even with the budget reduction and the dismantling of public policies aimed at producers, made it possible for them to remain in agricultural activity. In this way, it is necessary to invest in public policies and local strategies, such as publicity in the media by the public authorities, so that family producers and fairs can remain in our society.
