A interleucina 31
The atopic dermatitis (AD) is a disease that affects dogs of all ages and breeds that have a genetic predisposition to a mutation that decreases the homogeneity and quantity of lipids and keratin of the epidermal barrier. The most common clinical signs of AD are the itching and the inflammatory lesions, responsible for reducing the quality of life of the animal with AD. The IL-31 is responsible for the transmission of itching nerve impulses to the brain, by binding itself to a specific receptor. Taking into account that the physical aggression to the skin caused by itching is the most aggravating frame, IL-31 plays a major role in the pathogenesis of the disease.
