Resumo
As alterações no aparelho estomatognático parecem se originar do desequilíbrio ortopédico da mandíbula. Uma das causas desse desequilibro é a ausência do suporte oclusal que poderia conduzir a uma posição côndilo-disco inadequada na fossa mandibular, diminuição da força dos músculos elevadores da mandíbula, lubrificação deficiente. Essas mudanças podem levar ao desalojamento do disco articular e, conseqüentemente, ao aparecimento de vibrações articulares. Dessa forma, este estudo busca identificar e quantificar a presença de vibrações por meio da eletrovibratografia em articulações temporomandibulares de pacientes Classe I e/ou II de Kennedy, no momento da consulta, um ano e dois anos após o tratamento oclusal. Os resultados indicaram que as vibrações articulares foram mais freqüentes no final da abertura e do fechamento bucal. Entretanto, as vibrações diminuíram no primeiro e no segundo ano, sendo que somente após dois anos a redução foi estatisticamente significante. A redução da vibração articular verificada é sugestiva de que o suporte molar evita o desalojamento do disco e permite um fortalecimento muscular.
The alterations in stomatognathic apparatus can be originate by orthopedical disbalance of the jaw. One of the causes of orthopedical disbalance is the absence of the occlusal support that could lead to a inadequate condyle-disk position related to mandibular fossa, weakness of mandibular elevators muscles, and joints temporomandibulars deficient lubrication. These alterations can contribute to displacement of the articular disk and consequently the forthcoming of articular vibrations. This aim of this study is to identify and quantify the presence of vibrations through the electrovibratography in temporomandibular joint of Kennedy class I and/or II patient, at the initial appointment, one year and two years after the occlusal treatment. The results indicated that the articular vibrations were more frequent at the end of the opening and buccal closing. However, the vibrations decreased in the first and second year. After second years the differences were statistically significant. The reduction of the articular vibration verified is suggestive that the support molar avoids the displacement of the disk and it allows a muscular invigoration.
