dc.description.abstract | Environmental pollution is a recurrent problem since anthropogenic actions constantly expose the environment to toxic compounds. In view of this fact, many decontamination methodologies have been developed such as thermal treatment, oxidation, ion exchange, and others. Among these methods, phytoremediation has the advantage to be a green methodology (since it is employed plants for the remediation) and can efficiently degrade, stabilizes, or accumulates both inorganic and organic pollutants. Nowadays, nanomaterials and some microorganisms have been used combined with phytoremediation in order to improve the remediation and this new approach is called nano-phytoremediation. This chapter discusses the nanomaterials and microorganisms combined with phytoremediation besides explores the mechanisms of remediation of nano-phytoremediation for some nanomaterials combined with plants. | en |
