Resumo
Considering the great importance of the Itupararanga Reservoir to supply water to Sorocaba inhabitants (SP), this study aimed to evaluate its water quality. The following parameters were analyzed: depth, electrical conductivity, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, Ca, K, Na, Mg, Al, Fe, Zn, Pb, Mn, Ni, alkalinity, chlorine, nitrate, sulfate and phosphate. Besides, the physical and chemical parameters were analyzed in two different sampling sites and periods during the year 2007. The results indicate the sampling point upstream (P1) is the most affected by the land use in the Alto Sorocaba basin. Along the Itupararanga Reservoir, the concentrations of most cations and anions decreases, improving the quality of the waters downstream of this reservoir. Therefore, it is understood that action is needed aimed at planning, reduction of environmental degradation and integrated management of the Itupararanga Reservoir.
