Na Odontologia estética, onde os mínimos detalhes fazem toda a diferença, a fotografia digital tornou-se um elemento imprescindível para um excelente resultado. Estabelecendo um protocolo fotográfico o cirurgião-dentista consegue planejar, registrar, documentar e aperfeiçoar o caso clínico de seus pacientes. Para isso, o mesmo necessita dominar as técnicas fotográficas, bem como possuir equipamentos adequados para a realização das fotos. Logo, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo descrever o protocolo fotográfico, suas utilizações, bem como os materiais necessários e suas técnicas fotográficas por meio de uma revisão de literatura. Ademais, foi apresentado um caso clínico onde se demonstrou por meio de um protocolo fotográfico como executar e alcançar um ótimo resultado para o paciente. Sendo assim, o protocolo fotográfico se mostrou de grande utilidade para os tratamentos reabilitadores estéticos tanto para a equipe envolvida no processo quanto para o paciente que obterá um resultado harmonioso às suas características e que atenda aos seus anseios.Modern photography and the emergence of the digital era allowed that several fields of Dentistry were revolutionized. In Aesthetic Dentistry, where the slightest details are relevant, digital photography became a crucial element to outstanding results. It is by establishing a photographic protocol that a dental surgeon is able to plan, record, report, and enhance his patient’s clinical case. There upon, both photography techniques and adequate equipment are required for taking protocol photographs. The present paper aims to describe the photographic protocol, its application, and its required materials and photography techniques through a literature review. Furthermore, it was presented a clinical case where upon it was displayed by a photographic protocol on how to execute and how to achieve the best results for the patient.
