Sometimes, the implementation of knowledge management is not successful because its critical success factors are not adequately analyzed. In addition, these factors don't consider organizational memory, a concept directly related to knowledge management. With the intention of contributing to more successful cases related to the implementation of knowledge management in organizations, this study aims to present strategic guidelines based on the critical success factors of knowledge management that consider the characteristics of organizational memory. To this end, in addition to a bibliographic survey, interviews were conducted with managers of Spanish organizations, in order to understand the basic context for the development of these guidelines. After conducting the interviews, it is concluded that the proposed strategic guidelines are fundamental for the successful implementation of knowledge management.25porKnowledge managementOrganizational MemoryCritical Success FactorsGuidelinesStrategySTRATEGIC GUIDELINES BASED ON THE CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FOCUSED ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEMORYArtigoWOS:000544324900018
