Sergipe: Univ Federal Sergipe, v. 19, n. 2, p. 176-185, 2017.1518-2487http://hdl.handle.net/11449/159968This article brings to light the performance of the scholar and journalist, Bandeira Tribuzi within the maranhense press during the period of the dictatorship, in which he founded the newspaper O Estado do Maranhao with Senator Jose Sarney, in a period the political leader hadn't consolidated his political leadership in the state sphere and hadn't have national projection, which he only gained, with the emerging of the dictatorship, when he migrated to the main opposition party, PMDB, when he became candidate to vice-presidency together with Tancredo Neves in 1985; and later on, president when the president elected by the Electoral College died.
