The compound cytotoxicity was studied using MTT assay. Macrophage stimulation was evaluated by the determination of NO (Griess assay) and H 2O 2 (horseradish peroxidase/phenol red) in supernatants of peritoneal macrophage cultures of Swiss mice. This research demonstrated stimulatory activities of some phenolic compounds isolated from lichens and their derivatives on H 2O 2 and NO production. Structure-activity relationships suggest several synthetic directions for further improvement of immunological activity.847-852engHydrogen peroxideLichensMacrophagesNitric oxidePhenolic compounds8' o n propyl norstitic acid9' o ethyl norstitic acid9' o ethyl protocetraric acid9' o iso propyl protocetraric acid9' o methyl protocetraric acid9' o n butyl protocetraric acid9' o n hexyl protocetraric acid9' o n pentyl protocetraric acid9' o n propyl protocetraric acid9' o sec butyl protocetraric acid9' o terc butyl protocetraric acidcomprotocetraric acidhydrogen peroxideimmunostimulating agentlichexanthonemethyl protocetratenitric oxidenitroblue tetrazoliumnorstitic acidphenol derivativephysodic acidprotocetraric acidunclassified druganimal cellcell stimulationcell viabilitycytotoxicitydrug determinationdrug structuredrug synthesisimmune responseimmunomodulationlichenmacrophagemousenonhumanperitoneumstructure activity relationsupernatantSwiss Webster mouseImmunostimulatory effects of the phenolic compounds from lichens on nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide productionArtigo10.1590/S0102-695X2009000600009S0102-695X2009000600009WOS:000275593200009Acesso aberto2-s2.0-779495146312-s2.0-77949514631.pdf35382536406029770000-0003-3032-2556
