The experiment was conducted in the experimental field of the DTCS/UNEB, in Juazeiro, BA, in the period from April to September 2013. Experimental delineation was adopted, in random blocks in a subdivided plot scheme, with five repetitions. The treatments were composed of three tensions for the soil water limit in the plots, at 20, 40 and 50 kPa and five onion cultivars in subplots Atacama, 1206, Predileta, Serena, and Vale Ouro IPA-11. The variables analyzed were total productivity, commercial productivity, efficiency of the use of water, soluble solid content, titratable acidity, average bulb weight, and dry matter content of commercial bulbs. Cultivars Serena and Vale Ouro IPA-11 presented better answers regarding the characteristics of total and commercial productivity. The water tension limit in the soil of 20 kPa provided the best agronomic performance among the cultivars evaluated.485-496porAllium cepa LManagementSoil water potentialDesempenho agronômico de cultivares de cebola sob diferentes tensões de água no soloAgronomic performance of onion cultivars under different soil water tensionsArtigo10.15809/irriga.2017v22n3p485-496Acesso restrito2-s2.0-85034833409
