Resumo
Este estudo analisou a organização do espaço do município de São João do Polêsine – RS sob a perspectiva das ruralidades. Focado na análise da paisagem e do lugar, buscouse evidenciar a forte influência que as ruralidades exercem em pequenos municípios e como suas permanências influenciam os modos de vida das populações desses locais e consequentemente toda sua dinâmica espacial. Percebe-se que o espaço urbano de pequenos municípios como São João do Polêsine possuem estreitas relações com suas áreas rurais, aliadas a um lento desenvolvimento urbano e dependência de cidades maiores próximas. Assim, a pesquisa mostrou um lugar de vocação agrícola e tradições rurais, que molda e organiza seu espaço mesmo que inconscientemente a exemplo de suas crenças, suas tradições e seus modos de conduzir a vida, ou seja, as ruralidades presentes no cotidiano local. Dessa forma, a verificação da presença concreta e simbólica das ruralidades neste pequeno município, assentou-se no entendimento da dinâmica espacial e social norteado por quatro categorias de análise: o processo de crescimento e as funções urbanas; a “dimensão” do rural; os modos de vida e as percepções locais; e as tradições e símbolos do rural. Contudo, os resultados da pesquisa demonstram que o espaço é antes de tudo uma construção social, ele se organiza e se transforma de acordo com o ritmo e modos de vida dos que nele habitam, e dessa forma, em um lugar onde a sociedade esta claramente marcada pelas ruralidades, logo o espaço também será organizado sob as suas influências
This study analyzed the organization of the space of the municipality of São João do Polêsine – RS in the point of view of ruralities. By focusing in the analysis of landscape and place, it was aimed at evidencing the strong influence that the ruralities have on small cities and how their persistence influenced on the ways of living of the local populations and consequently all their spatial dynamics. It is perceived that the urban space of the small municipalities such as São João do Polêsine have close relations with their rural areas, together with an urban slow development and their dependency to major cities near them. Thus, the research demonstrated a place with agricultural vocation and rural traditions, which mold and organize its space, even though unconsciously according to their beliefs, traditions and ways of living, that is to say, the ruralities which are present in the local everyday life. Thus, the verification of the concrete and symbolic presence of the ruralities in this small municipality was based on the understanding of spatial and social dynamics, an understanding which is guided by four categories of analysis: the growing process and the urban functions; the rural ‘dimension’; the ways of living and the local perceptions; and the traditions and the symbols of the rural. However, the results of the research demonstrate that the space is rather a social construct; it organizes and transforms itself according to the rhythm and the ways of living of those who inhabit in there. In such a way, in a place where the society is clearly determined by ruralities, then the space will also be organized under such influences
