Resumo
O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar, por meio da revisão de literatura e estudo exploratório, como as barreiras e motivadores influenciam a implementação de práticas de Sistema de Gestão Ambiental (SGA) em Instituições de Ensino Superio (IES). As barreiras e motivadores à adoção de SGA em IES foram sistematizados e utilizados no estudo dos casos de duas IES públicas, a IES (X) e a IES (Y), para verificar por meio de entrevistas, observação e análise documental e influência destas na adoção de práticas de SGA. Ambas as IES adotam práticas de SGA e são influenciadas de forma diferentes pelas barreiras e motivadores. O estudo encontrou uma correlação entre as barreiras e motivadores, pois a IES que apresentou mais motivadores e menos barreiras adota mais práticas de SGA do que a IES que possui menos motivadores e mais barreiras. Por meio dos 16 requisitos essenciais de um SGA extraídos da ISO 14001 verificou-se que a IES (Y) implementou mais requisitos do que a IES (X)). Esta pesquisa tem as limitações de um estudo qualitativo quanto a generalizações, mas estudos futuros utilizando as barreiras e motivadores sistematizados na literatura poderão utilizar uma abordagem quantitativa qualitativa e diagnosticar o estágio de implementação da sustentabilidade em uma universidade e/ou o grau de correlação das barreiras e motivadores
The research aim is very through of literature review and exploratory study, such as barriers and motivators influencing the implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) practices in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). Barriers and motivators to the adoption of EMS in HEI were systematized and used to study the cases of two public HEI (Higher Education Institution x and Higher Education Institution (Y) to verify through interviews, observation and document analysis its influence on the adoption practices of SGA. The two HEI adopt practices of EMS and are influenced in different ways by the barriers and motivators. The study found a correlation between the barriers and motivators, as the Higher Education Institution which presented more motivators, as the Higher Education Institution which presented more motivators and less barriers adopts more SGA practices than that IES has fewer motivators and more barriers. Through the 16 essential requirements of and EMS extracted from ISO 14001 it was verified that the Higher Education Institution Y implemented more requirements than the Higher Education Institution X. This research has the limitations qualitative study about generalizations but future studies using barriers and motivators systematized in the literature way use a qualitative and quantitative approach to diagnose the stage of implementation of sustainability at a Higher Education Institution and/or the degree of correlation of the barriers and motivators
