Introduction: Auditory evoked responses are objective methods used to evaluate neuroelectric activity in the auditory pathway (from the auditory nerve to the cerebral cortex) in response to an acoustic stimulus. These are electrophysiological measures, generated by the synchronism of the structures of the auditory pathway, starting in the auditory nerve up to the brainstem. Heart rate variability is a noninvasive method used to analyze the autonomic nervous system, recognized by the literature that analyzes autonomic cardiac regulation. Knowing that the autonomic nervous system and auditory processing are regulated by the central nervous system, few studies investigate the relationship between auditory stimuli and autonomic modulation, since studies have so far been found that have to relate auditory evoked responses to regulation Neural system of the autonomic nervous system. In view of this, it is hypothesized that these electrophysiological responses may be related to the autonomic nervous system. Objective: To verify if there is an association between auditory evoked responses and the neural regulation of the autonomic nervous system in healthy women. Methods: The study was conducted in 46 healthy female subjects, aged between 18 and 30 years. Initially, general data were collected from the volunteers, such as: age, weight and height, and a brief audiological anamnesis was performed. After the notes were taken, the participants were submitted to tonal audiometry, after which the systolic and diastolic blood pressure were measured. The participants were instructed to rest for 10 minutes, during which time the heart rate was monitored using the Polar RS800CX cardiofrequency meter (Polar Electro, Finland). After 10 minutes, the BERA examination began. I, III and V latencies were analyzed. To evaluate the association between BERA components and cardiovascular parameters, the Pearson correlation test for parametric distributions and the Spearman correlation test for non-parametric distributions were applied. Conclusion: There was an association between autonomic regulation and auditory processing at the level of the distal portion of the auditory nerve.
