Resumo
Tendo em vista a descontrolada degradação ambiental que assola o planeta em que vivemos, compreendemos a importância da realização de estudos acerca das questões ambientais e, especialmente, de possíveis maneiras de frear tal acontecimento. Diante disto, esta dissertação, que teve por principal objetivo analisar a atuação da Associação de Proteção e Preservação Ambiental (APPA) de Araras/SP, buscando compreender a intervenção do Terceiro Setor nas ações de Educação Ambiental, sob a ótica do assistente social, inicia a discussão com reflexões acerca das ações antrópicas, fruto do sistema capitalista, que espolia a natureza e o próprio homem, discorre uma perspectiva histórica dos movimentos ambientalistas existentes desde a década de 1960, e de que forma estes foram fundamentais para a construção da Educação Ambiental, a qual possui diversas vertentes e, em sua perspectiva crítica, tem sido a maneira mais adequada de se trabalhar. Em seguida, é apresentada ao leitor a inserção do Terceiro Setor na temática pesquisada, desembocando no histórico e atividades desenvolvidas pela APPA até o presente momento. À luz destes referenciais, o estudo propõe uma reflexão sobre as possibilidades de trabalho do assistente social frente aos problemas ambientais, tendo encontrado na APPA um espaço propício para o exercício multidisciplinar por parte desta, onde o assistente social possa compor a equipe e contribuir com as ações educativas, preventivas e interventivas, características desta profissão. Apontamos que a prática profissional do Serviço Social também pode ser exercida na questão ambiental, a qual é uma das manifestações da questão social, principal objeto de estudo e de intervenção de nossa atividade.
In view of the uncontrolled environmental degradation that devastates the planet we live in, it is understandable the importance of carrying out a study on environmental issues and especially about ways to curb such event. Therefore, this dissertation, whose main objective was to analyze the performance of the Environmental Protection and Preservation Association (APPA) of Araras/SP, seeking to understand the intervention of the Third Sector in Environmental Education actions, from the point of view of the social worker, starts the discussion with reflections about anthropic actions, fruit of the capitalist system, which spurs nature and man himself, discourses a historical perspective of the environmental movements existing since the 1960s, and how they were fundamental for the construction of Environmental Education, which has several aspects and, in its critical perspective, has been the most appropriate way of working. It is then introduced to the reader, the insertion of the Third Sector in the researched topic, resulting in the history and activities developed by APPA up to the present time. Considering these references, the study proposes a reflection on the social worker's possibilities of working in the face of environmental problems, having found in APPA a space conducive to the multidisciplinary exercise on its part, where the social worker can compose the team and contribute to the educational, preventive and intervention actions, characteristics of this profession. We point out that the professional practice of Social Work can also be exercised in the environmental issue, which is one of the manifestations of the social question, the main object of study and intervention of our activity.
