The objective of this study was to evaluate new systems for the production of bull frogs in large volume tanks with the automatic feeding at different periods throughout the year. The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive performance of bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus) in three classes of initial weight (14.06g ± 1.14, 19.10g ± 1.33, 24.60g ± 2.45) kept in floating baits with automation of the feed supply and daily adjustment of the feed supply. The experiment lasted 180 days and the frogs were fed by means of automatic feeders controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) every half hour during the day (06:00 to 18:00) and feed rate of 1% of the live weight during autumn, winter (120 days) and 3% of live weight during spring (60 days). The animals with the highest initial weight (24.60 g) presented better weight gain (59.67 kg) and individual weight gain (251.12 g), survival had no difference between the highest weight and the intermediate weight (80.93 and 76.61 %), since feed conversion did not vary among treatments. It is recommended that the entry weight of the animals in the floating bay be 24.60 g to begin breeding during cold periods. The second work had as objective to evaluate three distinct types of platforms in the creation of bull frogs in net tanks, being a fixed platform made of fiberglass, maintaining throughout the experimental period a part out of the water, a mobile platform, made of zinc plate, which sank according to the weight of the animals on it and a platform submerged screen, serving only as support at the time of feeding. The experiment lasted 60 days. The feed rate was 3% of live weight and was daily corrected by a PLC (programmable logic controller) that controlled the automatic feeders. There was no difference between the different platforms for final biomass (13.023 kg), final weight (415.12 g), total weight gain (217.99), average daily gain (3.64 g), apparent feed conversion 3.52) and survival (79.5%). Among the slaughter parameters, there was no difference for the parameters weight (394.66 g), carcass weight (191.75 g), carcass yield (49.06%), thigh weight (109.87 g), (57.39%) and thigh / sex yield (29.28% / males and 26.29% / females), but in carcass / sex yield, males (53.56%) presented higher percentage of carcass than females (45.60%). The animals of the present experiment obtained satisfactory zootechnical indexes in the fattening of bull frogs, post-slaughter weight, created in net tanks regardless of the platform used.
