The low levels of phosphorus (P) of the cultivated areas in Cerrado regions in Brazil, coupled with the degradation processes to which tropical soils are exposed, are often two of the main causes of reduced productivity of these soils. In addition, some producers use unconventional techniques that are often contradictory to scientific research, one of which is the use of phosphatic fertilization in the No-Tillage System (NTS), which may limit the use of this nutrient in the soil. This condition can still be aggravated in the case of consortium systems, with the objective of generation of straw for maintenance of the NTS. In this way, the objective was to evaluate two forms of phosphate fertilization in maize intercropped or not, in an area with NTS already installed. And later to verify the residual effect of the P in soybean crop in succession. The research was conducted in the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 harvests at the experimental farm belonging to the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), located in the municipality of Selvíria - MS. For this, the corn experiment was set up in a randomized block design in a 2x2x4 factorial scheme, two maize cultivation systems (intercropped maize or not with Urochloa ruziziensis), two modes of application of the phosphate fertilizer (in the haul or in the furrow of sowing) and four doses of P2O5 (0, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1), with four replications, totaling 64 plots. The experiment was installed in second crop corn in early 2014, after harvesting the soybean was sown without the application of any phosphate fertilizer, in order to evaluate the residual effect of maize cultivation. At the beginning of 2015 the soybean harvest was carried out and the second experiment with maize second harvest was implemented, repeating the same doses and configurations of the previous year. With the corn crop, soybean was sown again over the area, being harvested in the first semester of 2016. In the corn crop, the variables final stand of plants, plant height and spike insertion, number of grains per row and rows per ear, ear weight and length, mass of 100 grains and grain yield. In U. ruziziensis the phytomass production and the P content were evaluated in soybean. The final stand of plants, plant height and first pod insertion, number of branches and pods per plant, phosphorus and phytate contents in the seeds, 100 grain mass and grain yield. Thus, it was concluded that P increased linearly the yield of maize, and when phosphate fertilization is done in the sowing groove, there is no reduction of productivity even in intercropping with U. ruziziensis. However, if the application of P2O5 is in the haul, productivity is higher in intercropped maize not. In soybean, there was also a linear increase in productivity according to the P2O5 doses, and the residual effect was evident. However, this effect was higher for phosphatic fertilization in the soil, increasing P content in soybean seeds and linearly increasing phytate content and grain yield.
