O teatro contemporâneo de Tony Kushner: aspectos da tradução e levantamento de temas em Angels in America

Resumo
Um dos objetivos da tradução sempre foi permitir o acesso a textos que não foram escritos na língua materna de uma comunidade receptora, sendo essencial na criação de uma diversidade cultural. Com isso em mente, o objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar a tradução literária para o português das cenas iniciais de “Millennium Approaches”, primeira parte da premiada peça Angels in America, de Tony Kushner, que estreou em maio de 1991 e é considerada o trabalho mais relevante do autor. Tal tradução foi obtida com base em princípios da área de Teorias da Tradução, assim como, especificamente, da Tradução de Teatro, levando sempre em conta a dinamicidade da relação texto/palco presente nesse gênero literário, assim como suas características. Ademais, busca-se realizar um levantamento dos temas presentes na peça, desenvolvendo sobre eles um breve comentário e apontando possíveis chaves de análise para trabalhos futuros.
One of the objectives of translation has always been to allow people access to texts that have not been written in the native language of a target community, being essential to achieve cultural diversity. With this in mind, this work aims to present the literary translation to Portuguese of the initial scenes in “Millennium Approaches”, the first part of the award-winning play Angels in America, by Tony Kushner, which premiered in May 1991 and is considered to be the most important work of this author. The translation was obtained based on principles from the Translation Studies area, and, specifically, from the Theatre Translation area, always taking into account the dynamism of the relationship between playtext and stage that is intrinsic to this literary genre, as well as its characteristics. Furthermore, this work aims to survey the themes of the play, developing brief comments on them and pointing out possible key analysis points for future works.
