Resumo
Tecnologias como a rede blockchain, criptografia e a rede Peer-to-Peer, possibilitaram que as criptomoedas se tornassem realidade e apresentassem um crescimento exponencial na atualidade. Este trabalho tem por objetivo verificar a evolução dessas tecnologias e seu impacto no setor elétrico, analisando a viabilidade econômica da mineração no Brasil, avaliando aspectos como a evolução dos chips de circuito integrado utilizados na mineração e a crescente demanda energética. Além disso, pretende-se analisar a evolução da criptomoeda Bitcoin como moeda de troca e o seu impacto no consumo e custo de energia elétrica, avaliando seu potencial de crescimento ao longo do tempo. Ao final do trabalho, discute-se um panorama do cenário de mineração de criptomoedas e qual seu impacto no setor elétrico de energia.
Technologies such as the blockchain network, cryptography and the peer-to-peer network have made it possible for cryptocurrencies to become a reality and present exponential growth today. This work aims to verify the technologies and their impact on the economic viability of mining Bitcoin in Brazil, evaluating the evolution of integrated circuit chips used and the growing energy demand. In addition, it’s planned to analyze the evolution of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency as a currency and its impact on the consumption and cost of electricity, evaluating its growth potential over time. At the end of this work, an overview of the Bitcoin mining scenario and its impact on the energy sector is discussed.
