Angel Olgoso's oeuvre has stood out among that of contemporary Spanish authors of fantastic flash fiction. Considering this, we examine the meaning of monstrousness in a selection of flash fictions from Los demonios del lugar (2007) and La maquina de languidecer (2009). In these flash fictions, monstrousness is dissociated from the monstrous form, and its manifestation destabilizes normality within the text, engendering the fantastic aspect by meticulously working with language.en
