dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study was to identify and map areas susceptible to mass movements, through the use of geotechnologies in the town of Várzea Paulista (SP). For this purpose we used slopes, geological, geomorphological and use-and-occupancy maps, which were superimposed by Multicriteria Analysis in GIS ArcGIS. Each subject received a weight of influence to the outbreak of such processes and the final result was a susceptibility map to mass movements of the municipality in question. A parallel study was drawn about the orientation of strands to determine those who are at higher risk compared with data collected in the field. There are many occupied areas within the municipality that require monitoring of the government, especially in the rainy season, as they are fragile in places in terms of geological and geomorphological features.en
