São discutidas algumas das relações entre arte, lugares abandonados e ruínas. É feita uma
breve retrospectiva histórica de artistas que trabalharam com essa temática no século XVIII.
O texto recorre ao pensamento do autor Andreas Huyssen para discutir o se
ntimento de
nostalgia despertado por esses lugares e influências que ele pode ter na produção de arte
contemporânea. São analisadas obras de artistas contemporâneos de diversos países que
abordam o universo ruinoso em suas produções. O artigo procura ainda
investigar como
esse tipo de arte pode tensionar as relações entre memória e esquecimento e entre cultura e
natureza.

This paper discusses some aspects of the relationships among art, abandoned places, and ruins. It brings a brief historical retrospective of artists who worked with this theme in the 18th century. The text resorts to some thoughts of the author Andreas Huyssen to discuss the feeling of nostalgia stimulated by these places and his influences in the production of contemporary art. The article analyzes some artworks by contemporary artists who treat the ruinous universe in their productions. It also investigates how this type of art can provoke strain in the relationship among memory and forgetfulness, culture and nature.
