Eficiência alimentar e qualidade seminal de touros jovens da raça Nelore

dc.description.abstractO maior custo da produção de bovinos de corte é a alimentação, para isto tem se estudado melhorar a eficiência alimentar com maior ênfase na característica consumo alimentar residual (CAR), mas se faz necessário conhecer a relação desta com a fertilidade dos touros utilizados em programas de melhoramento genético. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar touros jovens da raça Nelore, classificados em baixo e alto CAR e seus parâmetros reprodutivos. Foram utilizados 946 touros do programa de melhoramento Nelore Qualitas, participantes dos testes de eficiência alimentar nos anos de 2010 a 2017. As imagens termográficas e ultrassonográficas dos testículos foram realizadas em 114 animais ao final do teste do ano de 2017, e as avalições andrológicas foram realizadas em 54 animais dos testes de 2011 a 2015, na Central de reprodução Alta Genetics e 29 animais do teste de 2016 e 2017, na Central Bela Vista. A divisão dos animais em baixo e alto CAR, foi dentro de ano de prova e considerando os participantes que tinham valores acima da média do CAR mais (baixo) ou menos (alto) meio desvio padrão. O peso final (PESOF), peso metabólico (PMET) e ganho médio diário (GMD) não apresentaram diferença quando comparados nos grupos divergentes de CAR (GCAR). A temperatura da parte superior (TEMP_SUP) dos testículos apresentou diferença entre os GCAR e, a temperatura inferior (TEMP_INF) dos testículos, bem como o gradiente de temperatura do escroto (GTE) não apresentaram diferença. Nas imagens ultrassonográficas a intensidade de pixel (IP) e as avaliações andrológicas utilizando motilidade (MOT), vigor (VIG), concentração (CONC), defeitos maiores (DMA), defeitos menores (DME) defeitos totais (DTOT), não foram diferentes entre os GCAR. A TEMP_SUP e TEMP_INF tiveram correlações com DME (0,51 e 0,51, respectivamente) e DTOT (0,48 e 0,46, respectivamente). A TEMP_INF apresentou correlação negativa com MOT (-0,39) e, IP apresentou correlação com DMA (0,47). O CAR não apresentou correlação com nenhuma das características descritas. Concluindo que a seleção de touros para CAR não exerce influência nas características de qualidade seminais, mensuradas pelas imagens termográficas e ultrassonográficas, indicadas como auxiliares na seleção dos touros.pt
dc.description.abstractThe highest cost of beef cattle producing is the feed, for this has been studied to improve feed efficiency with a greater emphasis on the characteristic residual feed intake (RFI), but it is necessary to know the relationship of this with the fertility of the bulls used in programs genetic improvement. The objective of the present study was to evaluate efficient and non-efficient Nelore bulls and their reproductive parameters. A total 946 bulls were used from the Nelore Qualitas breeding program, participants in feed efficiency tests from 2010 to 2017. Thermographic and ultrasonographic images of the testicles were performed in 114 animals at the end of 2017 test, and andrological evaluations were performed in 54 animals from the tests of 2011 to 2015, in the Center of reproduction Alta Genetics, and 29 animals of the test of 2016 and 2017, in Central Bela Vista. The division of the animals into low and high RFI, was within the year of test and considering the participants who had values above the average of the RFI more (low) or less (high) half standard deviation. The final body weight (FBW), metabolic body weight (MBW) and average daily gain (ADG) didn’t present statistical difference when compared in the divergent groups of RFI (GRFI). The upper temperature (TEMP_UP) of the testicles showed a significant difference between the GRFI and, the bottom temperature (TEMP_BO) of the testicles, as well as the temperature gradient of the scrotum (TGE) didn’t present statistical difference. In the ultrasound images the pixel intensity (PI) and the andrological evaluations using motility (MOT), vigor (VIG), concentration (CONC), major defects (MAD), minor defects (MID) total defects (TOD), didn’t present significance between the GRFI. The TEMP_UP and TEMP_BO had significant correlations with MID (0.51 and 0.51, respectively) and TOD (0.48 and 0.46, respectively). The TEMP_BO presented negative correlation with MOT (-0.39) and, PI had a significant correlation with MAD (0.47). The RFI didn’t present a significant correlation with any of the characteristics described, indicating that the selection of bulls for residual feed intake doesn’t influence the reproductive quality characteristics and the thermographic and ultrasonographic images may aid in the bulls selection.en
