Abstract
Abstract (portuguese)
Bioimpedance is the alternative of passing electric current through living tissues. When analyzing the response of electric current in a medium, it is possible to determine some physical characteristics, diseases and even some changes in it. FES (acronym for Functional Electrical Stimulation), has been increasingly used to assist in the treatment and strengthening of muscle groups, whether healthy or paraplegic people, but a major problem is that FES causes fatigue much faster than when perform voluntary movements, as many fibers are excited at the same time. Thus, the present study analyzes muscle fatigue of the quadriceps femoris muscle through bioimpedance after fatigue protocol with FES. In this work, isometric tests were performed on 18 healthy participants. To check the fatigue level to use a load cell, as the torque was measured and can be monitored or decreased. They were also transported by mechanomyography (MMG) using an accelerometer, as muscle activity is linked to fatigue. With the results it was possible to observe that after reaching the proposed fatigue level, the result showed greater impedance and greater lag in relation to the initial values, before the first application of FES.
