Abstract
In this work, the influence of metal surface treatment on the FML composite shear properties, consisting of three layers of aluminum interspersed with eight layers of fiberglass-reinforced epoxy, was evaluated. Therefore, the mechanical properties of interlaminar shear of the FML produced only with mechanical abrasion treatment were compared with results of materials with mechanical abrasion and anodizing available in the literature. It can be concluded that under flexure loads the anodizing process does not interfere much. However, under tensile and compression loads, there is an expressive shear strength.
