Certificação Leed: exemplos de práticas sustentáveis na construção civil a partir de um estudo de caso dos estádios do Maracanã (RJ) e Beira Rio (RS)

Abstract

A construção civil é um grande causador de impactos, seja na sociedade ou no meio ambiente. Isso porque para que uma obra seja feita são consumidos uma quantidade muito grande de recursos e consequentemente gerados muitos resíduos conforme o tamanho da obra. Neste contexto, é necessário que a empresa responsável por qualquer obra tenha uma responsabilidade e gerencie de tal forma que evite ao máximo que a população local e o meio ambiente sejam afetados negativamente. Como forma de minimizar tais impactos há certificações que promovem práticas sustentáveis nos processos da construção civil, para assim priorizar o bem estar da população que habita na região e garantir um uso consciente dos recursos naturais. Dentre as certificações, a Certificação Leed é o modelo escolhido para ser retratado no decorrer deste trabalho. A abordagem foi feita a partir de dois exemplos de reforma de estádios no Brasil, o estádio do Maracanã (RJ) e do Beira Rio (RS), que foram reformados para Copa do Mundo de 2014 seguindo os padrões exigidos pela FIFA, que exige que os novos estádios tenham uma responsabilidade socioambiental em seus eventos esportivos, o que inclui a adoção de práticas e condutas sustentáveis nas reformas de suas estruturas para então garantir o selo LEED. Apesar de algumas dificuldades em implementar esta forma de construção no Brasil, devido a falta de investimento, tecnologia e/ou pessoas capacitadas, ambas construções ao final da reforma obtiveram a Certificação na categoria Silver. Um legado valioso foi deixado, tanto para as reformas de estádios como também para quaisquer outros tipo de obras e reformas, pois a implantação de obras sustentáveis traz benefício na esfera social, econômica e principalmente ambiental.

Civil construction is a major cause of impacts, whether on society or the environment. This is because for a work to be done, a very large amount of resources are consumed and consequently a lot of waste is generated depending on the size of the work. In this context, it is necessary that the company responsible for any work has a responsibility and manages it in such a way as to avoid as much as possible that the local population and the environment are negatively affected. As a way to minimize such impacts, there are certifications that promote sustainable practices in civil construction processes, in order to prioritize the well-being of the population that inhabits the region and guarantee a conscious use of natural resources. Among the certifications, the Leed Certification is the model chosen to be portrayed throughout this work. The approach was taken from two examples of stadium renovations in Brazil, the Maracanã (RJ) and Beira Rio (RS) stadiums, which were renovated for the 2014 World Cup following the standards required by FIFA, which requires that the new stadiums have a socio-environmental responsibility in their sporting events, which includes the adoption of sustainable practices and conducts in the reforms of their structures to then guarantee the LEED seal. Despite some difficulties in implementing this form of construction in Brazil, due to lack of investment, technology and/or trained people, both constructions at the end of the renovation were certified in the Silver category. A valuable legacy was left, both for stadium renovations and for any other type of work and renovation, as the implementation of sustainable works brings benefits in the social, economic and, above all, environmental spheres.
