Identidade, pertencimento e patrimônio cultural por meio do bairro “Cidade Velha” em Belém - PA

Abstract

O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso se debruça sobre conceitos como identidade, pertencimento e patrimônio cultural material no bairro da Cidade Velha, em Belém, Pará. O estudo parte do entendimento de que o patrimônio não se limita à dimensão arquitetônica ou histórica, mas também atua como mediador de memórias, afetos e processos de identificação com o lugar. Trata-se de um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa e socioespacial. O objetivo geral consistiu em compreender de que modo o patrimônio cultural material do bairro contribui para a construção do sentimento de pertencimento e da identidade entre os sujeitos que nele circulam e o experienciam. Nesse sentido, a metodologia adota uma revisão bibliográfica com base nas categorias da memória coletiva, território e patrimônio, juntamente com a presença da autora em campo, com a aplicação da técnica de mapas mentais. A pesquisa empírica foi realizada com 30 estudantes da Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Médio David Salomão Mufarrej, dos quais 16 mapas mentais foram selecionados para análise sobre suas representações afetivas do espaço habitado. Os resultados demonstram que o patrimônio cultural material funciona como marco de legitimidade na construção da identidade e pertencimento geracional. Conclui-se que o patrimônio cultural material da Cidade Velha desempenha papel relevante na produção de vínculos simbólicos e afetivos, fortalecendo processos de identidade e reconhecimento territorial.

This undergraduate thesis examines concepts such as identity, belonging, and tangible cultural heritage within the Cidade Velha neighborhood, located in Belém, Pará. The study is predicated on the understanding that heritage is not confined to its architectural or historical dimensions, but also acts as a mediator of memories, affective bonds, and processes of spatial identification. This research consists of a case study adopting a qualitative and socio-spatial approach. The primary objective was to understand how the neighborhood's tangible cultural heritage contributes to the construction of a sense of belonging and identity among the individuals who navigate and experience it. To this end, the methodology comprises a literature review grounded in the categories of collective memory, territory, and heritage, coupled with the author's fieldwork utilizing the mental mapping technique. The empirical research was conducted with 30 students from the David Salomão Mufarrej State Primary and Secondary School; from this group, 16 mental maps were selected to analyze their affective representations of the inhabited space. The findings demonstrate that tangible cultural heritage functions as a framework of legitimacy in the construction of identity and generational belonging. In conclusion, the tangible cultural heritage of Cidade Velha plays a significant role in fostering symbolic and affective bonds, thereby strengthening processes of identity formation and territorial recognition.
