Caracterização anatômica e química dos órgãos vegetativos das espécies Alocasia reginula A. Hay e Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott var. fontanesii (Alismatales, Araceae)

Abstract

Araceae é uma família que possui grande importância medicinal, alimentícia e ornamental devido à presença, em algumas espécies, de compostos químicos que podem ser utilizados em fitoterápicos, de amido concentrado no sistema subterrâneo e da beleza diversa do sistema aéreo. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar a caracterização dos perfis anatômicos e fitoquímicos do sistema aéreo e subterrâneo de Alocasia reginula A. Hay e Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott var. fontanesii. Para isso foram preparadas lâminas permanentes e semipermanentes para análise em microscópio ótico e amostras para realização de microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Extratos etanólicos foram preparados com o material seco das plantas. Os métodos empregados evidenciaram diferenças anatômicas entre as duas espécies na cutícula, estômatos, cera epicuticular, epiderme e nas células papilosas; no córtex e endoderme da raiz; no córtex e feixes vasculares do rizoma, e na distribuição tecidual do amido. Houve diferença na presença de substâncias pécticas (mucilagem), compostos fenólicos, drusas e ráfides, e também no rendimento e composição dos extratos. A caracterização anatômica trouxe informações aprofundadas não relatadas para as espécies, mas condizentes com características da família, reforçando o potencial diagnóstico dos caracteres anatômicos, e trazendo dados que contribuem com a taxonomia, filogenia da família, e suplementam estudos de bioquímica, fisiologia vegetal e evolução.

Araceae is a family that has great medicinal, culinary and ornamental importance due to the presence, in some species, of chemical compounds that can be used in herbal medicines, concentrated starch in the underground system and the diverse beauty of the aerial system. The objective of this study was to characterize the anatomical and phytochemical profiles of the aerial and underground system of Alocasia reginula A. Hay and Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott var. fontansii. For this, permanent and semi- permanent slides were prepared for analysis in an optical microscope and samples for scanning electron microscopy. Ethanol extracts were prepared with the dried material of the plants. The methods employed showed anatomical differences between the two species in the cuticle, stomata, epicuticular wax, epidermis and papillose cells; in the cortex and endoderm of the root; in the cortex and vascular bundles of the rhizome, and in the tissue distribution of starch. There was a difference in the presence of pectic substances (mucilage), phenolic compounds, drusen and raphides, and also in the yield and composition of the extracts The anatomical characterization brought in-depth information not reported for the species, but consistent with family characteristics, reinforcing the diagnostic potential of anatomical characters, and bringing data that contribute to taxonomy, phylogeny of the family, and supplement studies of biochemistry, plant physiology and evolution.
