Influence of Ethnicity and Gene Polymorphism T- 786C eNOS on Post-Exercise Hypotension in Hypertensive Adults. JEPonline 2020; 23(2):61-70. The purpose of this study was to verify the influence of ethnicity and polymorphism on the eNOS T-786C gene (rs2070744) in the response of blood pressure to an exercise session. Eighty-nine hypertensive subjects (age, 57.6 ± 8.7 yrs; 26 with white skin and 63 with dark skin) were initially genotyped and submitted to a 60-min running/walking session of moderate intensity. Their blood pressure was measured before exercise, immediately after exercise, and every 10 min of a 60-min recovery period after exercise. There was a decrease in post-exercise systolic blood pressure of 6.9 ± 11.0 mmHg at 10 min, which increased to 10.9 ± 12.0 mmHg at 20 min. Then, it remained stable for the rest of the recovery period. Ethnicity and genotype did not modify these responses. The results indicate that hypertensive subjects with dark skin also benefit by the phenomenon of post-exercise hypotension.
